How you will make an Impact (Job Summary)
SPX is a diverse team of unique individuals who all make an impact. As General Labor, you will assist in various tasks in the manufacturing process assisting the paint line, unloading laser(breaking parts out of the laser cut sheets) and assembly, or other departments as directed by the supervisor. You will be part of a fast-paced environment, possess a strong mechanical aptitude, and be willing to learn new and different tasks.
What you can expect in this role (Job Responsibilities)
While each day brings new opportunities at SPX, your core responsibilities will be:
Safety
- Follow all safety rules and adhere to core value of business
- Maintain general work areas and/or equipment used in a clean and orderly condition
- Ensure proper and effective operation of machine and tools throughout entire process. Report repairs and/or issues to team lead or supervisor
Quality
- Confirm material, sizes, and parts match work order/job tickets
- Ensure all parts and surfaces are free from defects
- Able to self-monitor quality of own work, and report to lead or supervisor unusual, defective, or operating difficulties
- Complete all tasks and work within designed quality guidelines
- Accurately document work performed using company required documents and procedures
Delivery
- Hang and unhang moving parts from paint line
- Sub-assemble according to work order instructions
- Assist machine operators with various tasks of loading and unloading
- Pack and crate orders per shipping instructions
- Complete tasks as directed with minimum supervision
Culture
- Desire to do the right thing
- Team player, assisting other team members and departments as needed with other duties not routine to position
- Punctual, on time, ready to work designated shift, every day
What we are looking for (Experience, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education)
We each bring something to the table, and we are looking for someone who has:
Required Experience
- 1 year experience in manufacturing, warehouse, or construction environment
Preferred Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Mechanically inclined
- Basic math skills
- Strong attention to detail and quality, working within precise limits and/or standards of accuracy
- Exposure to computerized manufacturing systems
- Able to communicate both verbally and in writing
- Overhead crane operation
- Self-driven, able to work independently, and as a team
- Excellent problem solving and troubleshooting skills
Education & Certifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
