About the Team
The Compensation team builds and evolves the core capabilities that enable customers to design, administer, and deliver fair, compliant, and competitive pay programs at global scale. Our products power critical business processes including base pay, bonuses, equity, pay guidelines, eligibility rules, approvals, and integration with performance and talent outcomes. This is an essential product and a key piece of the Workday Portfolio!We operate at the intersection of data, policy, and user experience, solving sophisticated problems such as global regulatory compliance, large-scale calculations, extensibility, and customer configurability. The team works hand-in-hand with Product, UX, ML, and other HCM engineers to deliver highly reliable, secure, and scalable solutions used by thousands of customers worldwide.
Compensation is a critically important system of record for our customers, requiring a dedication quality, correctness, observability, and long-term technical health while continuing to innovate in areas such as automation, intelligence, and modern platform capabilities.
About the Role
This role is based in Atlanta (ATL) and leads a team of engineers in the HCM Development – Compensation domain, delivering critical capabilities used by customers globally. The role will provide strong people and technical leadership, ensuring clear ownership, predictable execution, and high engineering standards.
The role partners closely with QA, Product and other cross-functional teams to translate priorities into reliable, scalable solutions. Role will be accountable for delivery health, technical quality, and overall group effectiveness, while fostering a culture of accountability, growth, and constant improvement. This is a hands-on leadership role suited for someone who thrives in complex, fast paced environments and can bring clarity, structure, and momentum to execution.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead, mentor, and coach engineering teams to deliver high-quality software with empathy and effectiveness, fostering strong collaboration across Product, QA, and Automation teams.
Own end-to-end delivery for complex, multi-release initiatives in the Compensation domain, balancing delivery speed, quality, and sustainable technical health.
Partner closely with Product and cross-functional partners to translate business requirements into technical execution, and align on priorities and commitments.
Drive engineering excellence by promoting strong design rigor, test automation, operational readiness, and standard methodologies throughout the development lifecycle.
Ensure reliability, scalability, compliance, and security of Compensation system with a strong focus on correctness and customer trust.
Lead with a growth mindset, using data and metrics to monitor delivery health and team effectiveness, proactively identifying risks and opportunities for improvement.
Champion innovation and modern platform practices, including API-first design and extensibility, while encouraging experimentation and continuous improvement.
Promote an inclusive, engaged team culture aligned with Workday values, ensuring teams feel energized, supported, and motivated to deliver impactful work.
About You
Basic Qualifications
3+ years of experience building and directly managing impactful engineering teams.
