Job Description

Performs repairs and troubleshooting on food processing equipment to include, but not limited to: dumpers, injectors, netters, saws, skinners, tumblers, vacuum pumps, conveyors, hydraulic units, and ovens.

Core Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoots pneumatic, electric, and hydraulic machine problems and makes necessary repairs on production floor for up to 2 consecutive hours.
  • Rebuilds valves, pumps and gearboxes in the shop areas and train new employees on the rebuild process.
  • Performs preventive maintenance tasks such as lubricating parts, drives chains, etc.
  • Complete ALL repair notification and work orders within SAP on a daily basis and communicate to the Maintenance Manager if tasks cannot be accomplished before leaving.
  • Complete established preventative maintenance duties on a daily basis and develop procedures for new preventative maintenance.
  • Develop Standard Operating Procedures for major overhauls of netters and injectors.
  • Assist Maintenance Planner/Scheduler in ordering parts for equipment and projects.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.   • High School diploma or GED, required.
  • 2+ years’ experience in the maintenance (or related) field, required.
  • Ability to weld stainless steel and other related metals, preferred.
  • Knowledge of electrical circuits and troubleshooting, preferred.
  • Prior experience reading schematics and hydraulic drawings, preferred.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Bilingual, preferred.
  • May be required to work long hours and weekends.

Work Environment & Physical Demands

  • Temperature ranges between 36˚F and 50˚F out on production floor.  Temperatures vary if working in different locations in the plant, such as Maintenance shop, Maintenance office, Smokehouse, wastewater, and Engine/Boiler Room.   These locations can be above 50˚F and up to or over 100˚F. 
  • The plant environment will include wet or humid conditions (non-weather related), extreme cold and heat (non-weather related), working near moving mechanical parts, exposure to fumes or airborne particles, and chemicals.
  • Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate but can be loud when in the production area.
