Purpose of Position

The Helicopter Program Manager (HPM) is responsible for the operation of the assigned Helicopter Pilot Training Program(s) within the Learning Center by performing the following duties: NOTE: The term “Program” can refer to the training program in its development, implementation, or evaluation stages.

Tasks and Responsibilities

Training Standards – Program Activities: (Includes Compliance with regulations and guidelines and Quality Management System (QMS) policies and procedures); plus Lesson Planning, Current Material and Set-up.-Supervise and manage the day-to-day Customer training activities specific to the program aircraft to include aircraft-specific training delivery, Customer scheduling, Instructor scheduling, condition of training equipment, and training documentation.-Ensure that training materials are prepared, maintained and used in accordance with all regulatory requirements by periodically comparing said requirements with day-to-day activities and any audit inspection results at the Center.-Coordinate with the appropriate agencies/authorities (FAA/JAA), the Corporate PM - Automated Flight Deck Training, and appropriate FlightSafety International personnel regarding all matters concerning the approval of Flight Training Devices (FTDs) and appropriate training curriculum material, as requested.-When necessary, provide “hands on” supervision of Instructor(s) to ensure Instructor(s) continuing competency to train FlightSafety International’s Customers within the assigned program.Training Standards – Instructor Activities: (Includes Compliance with regulations and guidelines and QMS policies and procedures)-Maintain Instructor qualification in accordance with NOTE on the last page of this Job Description.-Maintain Instructor qualification in accordance with FlightSafety International’s Quality Maintenance Systems (QMS) processes and procedures. (Refer to QWI-62-02-01)-Keep current all certificates, ratings and designations required to perform duties as a Ground, Simulator or Flight Instructor.-Responsible for monitoring and ensuring training compliance with FlightSafety International’s ‘Instructor Performance Standards’.-Act as a Ground, Flight (Simulator), and/or Flight (Aircraft) Instructor, as needed. (See appropriate Job Descriptions for required qualifications)-Provide information and resources to individual Instructors in support of the conduct of Customer training.-Ensure Instructors are informed of unique Customer training requirements and ensure compliance with those requirements during Customers’ training.-Establish and maintain expanded Instructor Action Guides (IAGs) for appropriate program(s).-Update and modify Lesson Plan notes, syllabi and teaching aids, as necessary.-Conduct periodic Instructor meetings to communicate policies, procedures, and unique Customer training issues.-Evaluate, in conjunction with the Director of Standards (DOS), all New-Hire Pilot Instructors at the completion of their initial training and qualification phases and certify them as ready to teach the subjects/courses which they are scheduled to instruct.-In conjunction with DOS, establish in-house training programs to maintain and improve Instructor-teaching skills.-Monitor, periodically, through random quality Assurance observations, the teaching skills of all Pilot Training Instructors and confer with DOS regarding Instructors’ capability.-In conjunction with DOS, continue to ensure that all Pilot Instructors are fully trained and qualified in accordance with FlightSafety International and regulatory requirements for the Center.Teamwork – Internal and External Activities:-Communicate with the Center’s Director of Training (DOT) and the Center Manager concerning Customer training activities, scheduling and documentation, Simulator status and Instructor scheduling.

Minimum Education

Associate's degree (A.A.) from a two-year college or technical school preferred, or three (3) years' related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience; equivalency years’ experience substitution must be in related field.
