SUMMARY:

 

Under supervision of the Location Manager, individual will assist in the performance of various marketing activities in the crops division of Wabash Valley Service Company. Individual will interact with and assist current crops specialists in the region to acquire an understanding of how each marketer successfully performs their duties. Individual will also be expected to develop an understanding of the processes location managers use to efficiently operate their facilities. Accomplishing these objectives will develop the individual for placement in a more long term, defined marketing-oriented position for the Company.

 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

• Work under the day-to-day supervision of the location manager to provide assistance to the individual for specific marketing skill development.
• Assist Crop Specialists in various tasks and processes such as, but not limited to:
  • Developing an understanding of the relationship-building process different marketing specialists’ use in their territories.                              
  • Making product deliveries, developing custom application skills, and acquiring basic product knowledge awareness.
  • In season operations of loading fertilizer and crop protection products to help support the sale to the customers.
  • Become familiar with basic marketing functions & their everyday application such as target marketing, credit administration, time management, and individual goal setting.
  • Develop a basic awareness of the everyday routine of Crop Specialists.
• Become more familiar with the different locations in the region of Wabash Valley Service Company & the Company’s employees working there.
• Develop relationships with those employees as an experience-building skill useful for patron relationship building in the future.
• Develop an understanding of the workings of Wabash Valley Service Company as a whole, its relationship with Growmark, and the role our patron-owners play in the system as a whole.
• Be available to participate in Growmark-sponsored training events when recommended by the Supervisor.
• Must become familiar with billing and administrative procedures including effective utilization of computer marketing information systems.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS:

 

• Normally requires a high school diploma or the equivalent thereof, and 1 to 2 years of Agriculture related work experience. An Associates or Bachelors Degree in an Agriculture Related field would be helpful but not required.
• Must have a valid CDL driver’s license with HAZMAT and TANKER designation and a valid commercial pesticide applicator license or willing to obtain them.

• Individual will be expected to operate a forklift, shop equipment, loaders, & other plant equipment as necessary, in a safe and proper manner.
• Individual must also sign an “Intellectual Property Protection” statement safeguarding certain assets of Wabash Valley Service Company as a condition of employment.
• Individual must have the ability to tolerate working hours beyond those usually considered “normal”.
