THE DEPARTMENT:
Global Campus is a core unit (department) within CPGE and serves as the university’s central hub for international programs, global engagement, and international partnerships. Through Global Campus, CPGE leads institutional efforts to broaden and deepen international engagement by expanding inbound and outbound student mobility, strengthening global partnerships, supporting faculty and academic programs in integrating global competencies into curricula, and developing innovative international and virtual education models. The department provides operational leadership and oversight for international student and scholar services, study abroad, and global initiatives, while ensuring regulatory compliance, operational excellence, and high-quality student support. Through these efforts, Global Campus advances CPGE’s strategic priorities and contributes to Cal Poly Pomona’s goal of preparing students to thrive in an increasingly interconnected global environment and to make meaningful contributions at the regional, national, and international levels.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
ISSSO and OSA Leadership Administration
- Provides strategic and day-to-day management of ISSSO and OSA operations, including budget development and monitoring, staff supervision, and policy implementation. Ensures programs align with institutional goals, meet regulatory standards, and promote operational excellence.
- Oversees daily and strategic operations of the ISSSO and OSA, including program planning, organizational structure, workflow, and performance management.
- Manages ISSSO and OSA financial operations, including budget development, expenditure tracking, and revenue forecasting to meet fiscal targets.
- Ensures compliance with CSU, federal, and institutional policies, coordinating with internal audit and risk management as needed.
- Collaborates with key campus offices such as Admissions, Enrollment, I&IT, Registrar, and Health Services to support international student success and program delivery.
- Participates in strategic planning and CPGE leadership discussions; contributes to the implementation of the college’s global vision.
International Students and Scholars Services Office (ISSSO)
- Oversight Oversees all immigration services for F-1 and J-1 international students and scholars. Ensures SEVIS compliance, leads document processing (I-20, DS-2019), and supports student success through advising, cultural engagement, and personal support services.
- Serves as the Principal Designated School Official (PDSO) and Responsible Officer (RO) for SEVIS-related compliance and services.
- Oversees issuance of I-20 and DS-2019 forms and ensures lawful status and academic compliance of F-1 and J-1 visa holders.
- Leads SEVIS Batch processing and coordinates institutional reporting, including the IIE Open Doors Census.
- Directs immigration advising and supports employment processes (OPT, CPT), visa guidance, and change-of-status requests.
- Ensures accurate training of ISSO staff on immigration regulations and technology systems (e.g., Terra Dotta, OnBase).
- Develops cultural programming, orientation, and workshops (e.g., tax, visa, scholarship) to support student acculturation and engagement.
- Collaborates with departments to develop proactive outreach programs and ensure student access to relevant campus services.
Office of Study Abroad (OSA) Oversight
- Directs the design, implementation, and compliance of study abroad and student exchange programs.
- Advises students, collaborates with global partners, and ensures integration of overseas study into the academic curriculum.
- Directs design and delivery of study abroad programs, including faculty-led, reciprocal exchange, independent study, and CSU International Programs.
- Ensures compliance with CSU and external policies related to international travel and student participation.
- Leads the development of policies and procedures to support program accessibility, risk mitigation, and academic integration.
- Guides student advising efforts and ensures students know all applicable CSU and third-party global education opportunities.
