Job Summary

This position has the responsibility of supporting the mission of the hospital by providing care to those most in need and by providing an environment of high-quality health care for all patients. This position plans, implements and evaluates processes enacted through staff in collaboration with the Chief Nurse Officer; the goal of all action is to ensure a fiscally responsible organization with positive clinical outcomes. Must demonstrate the possession of knowledge and skills necessary to provide operational direction for designated areas of responsibility. Must demonstrate qualities of leadership, accountability, and responsibility.  The Senior Director will be an approachable individual who will act as a mentor and resource for their team. This individual holds an active RN license and will be a seasoned leader that has administrative and clinical leadership experience. 

Minimum Requirements

Experience - 5 years of clinical experience as a Registered Nurse 5 years in nursing management.

Education - Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing

Special Skills - Proficient in the English language, verbal and written communication skills, computer skills

Licensure - Current Louisiana State license as RN and BLS certification

Job Standards and Performance Expectations
1.   Teamwork
a.   Must demonstrate qualities of leadership, accountability and responsibility.
b.   Works with leadership to develop and track action plans when necessary
c.   Works with assigned departments to ensure active engagement with all quality colleagues and performance improvement initiatives
d.   Communicates to other department directors and leadership regarding occurrences, issues, findings, and risk management suggestions; provides feedback to directors at all levels in the effort to eliminate risk.
e.   Ensures all departments actively participate in facility surveillance rounds and are engaged in identifying resolutions to identified areas of concerns including escalation of concerns to senior leadership.
f.   Participates in the hospital delegate On Call rotation.
g.   When requested, adjusts personal schedule to meet departmental/unit needs.
h.   Responds appropriately to fire, safety and disaster situations.
i.   Reports to work on time, and if necessary, reports tardiness to appropriate person.
j.   Adheres to infection control and employee health practices and policies.
k.   Collaborates with physicians and all healthcare providers regarding clinical aspects of patient care in an effort to ensure the provision of high quality healthcare services by the departments.
l.   Employee shall conform to regulatory, customer and organizational requirements.
m.   Must demonstrate willingness to work in cooperation with and support of others
n.   Demonstrates effective communication skills and assists in the resolution of conflict among healthcare care team members, patients and families.


2.   Service
a.   Must demonstrate the possession of knowledge and skills necessary to provide operational direction for the departments served.
b.   Participates and documents leadership rounding at assigned times
c.   Demonstrates the Guest Service Standards as set forth by Lourdes Hospital. Sets expectations for departmental team members, monitors and evaluates adherence to these requirements.
d.   Maintains professional appearance, according to job requirements, at all times.
e.   Demonstrates Community Service by Participation in hospital related activities.
f.   Develops positive relationships between the hospital and community agencies, special interest and civic groups, and professional affiliations by acting as a hospital representative. Works through civic groups and public education activities to improve community health and foster the hospital's image as a leader in the health care industry.
g.   Adheres to hospital policy on usage of Paid Time Off and Extended Illness Time.
