Job Description
Gilead's mission is to discover, develop, and deliver therapies that will improve the lives of patients with life-threatening illnesses worldwide.
We are seeking a highly motivated, team-oriented individual to join our Mammalian Expression team in the Protein Therapeutics department. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with team members to design, develop, and execute experiments in protein production workflow to support ongoing and novel target discovery in our biologics pipeline. As a Sr. Research Associate, Protein Therapeutics, you are responsible for
Key Responsibilities:
· Conduct recombinant protein expression using mammalian cell culture systems across multiple scales and formats.
· Maintain and expand various cell lines including media preparation, passaging, and cryopreservation.
· Support process development studies to optimize mammalian expression workflow.
· Ensure proper planning and execution of experiments, adhering to timelines and project objectives.
· Present updates at cross-functional meetings and collaborate closely with protein expression, purification, analytic assessment colleagues to meet project timelines.
· Communicate regularly with cross-functional teams on deliverables, timelines, and progress.
· Maintain up-to-date and precise documentation of experimental procedures/outcomes in electronic laboratory notebook.
· Contribute to routine lab maintenance activities, including reagent inventory management/purchase, and lab organization.
· Ensure compliance with laboratory safety protocols and procedures.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelors degree with 2 years experience OR
Masters degree with no experience
Preferred Qualifications:
· Bachelor's degree with 2+ or master’s degree with 0 years of equivalent experience in Biology, Chemistry, or related discipline
· Practical experience in aseptic techniques in mammalian cell culture e.g., HEK293 and CHO cell lines.
· Hands-on laboratory experience utilizing various cell culture platforms such as shake flask, bench-scale bioreactor, and other novel platforms.
· Experience with various protein analytical techniques such as SDS-PAGE, western blotting, etc.
· Experience in Genedata Biologics system is a plus.
· Experience in statistics and data analysis (e.g., Stat-Ease, JMP, Spotfire) is a plus.
· Experience in operating liquid handling system is a strong plus.
· Experience in bioprocess engineering is desired.
· Strong organizational, communication, and planning skills and aptitude for creative problem solving.
· Demonstrated ability to work in a highly collaborative environment and adhere to timelines.
