Senior Red Hat Systems Engineer

Concept Solutions is hiring a Senior Red Hat Systems Engineer to support the FAA’s Enterprise Operational Support Environment (E-OSE), a critical infrastructure modernization initiative. The engineer will contribute to the design, implementation, monitoring, and lifecycle support of secure, high-availability virtualized environments within FAA facilities, helping advance safety and operational efficiency across the National Airspace System (NAS). 

• Design, implement, and manage Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL)-based systems and virtualized infrastructure within the E-OSE environment.
• Support system lifecycle activities including installation, configuration, patching, system hardening, and performance optimization.
• Implement and support DevSecOps practices, including containerization, CI/CD pipelines, and automation frameworks (e.g., Ansible).
• Perform diagnostics, root cause analysis, and issue resolution for complex systems in coordination with FAA and contractor engineering teams.
• Maintain system documentation, configuration baselines, and participate in configuration management processes.
• Contribute to technical planning, risk assessments, testing, and readiness activities in collaboration with FAA engineers and stakeholders.
• Support cybersecurity compliance (FISMA, NIST SP 800-53), vulnerability mitigation, and integration with FAA security tools (e.g., McAfee, monitoring platforms).
• Participate in technical interchange meetings (TIMs), stakeholder engagement sessions, and program reviews.
• Provide input to project documentation, including engineering reports, briefings, and system transition planning artifacts.

Requirements

• 20+ years of relevant experience in systems engineering, systems administration, or enterprise IT operations with direct hands-on expertise in Red Hat Enterprise Linux environments.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Sciences (e.g., mathematics, physics, meteorology, chemistry), Operations Research, Economics, Computer Science, Engineering, Business, Information Systems, Information Technology, Management Science, or a related field.
• Demonstrated experience with VMware virtualization, storage platforms, and enterprise-grade networking (e.g., Cisco Next Gen Firewalls).
• Experience in federal or aviation-related environments, including compliance with FAA, FISMA, or NIST cybersecurity frameworks.
• Ability to support FAA system documentation requirements and engineering review processes.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate across diverse technical teams.

Preferred Qualifications:

•   U.S. Citizenship required; must have or be able to obtain a Secret clearance.
• Experience supporting FAA, NAS systems, or similar mission-critical operational environments.
• Familiarity with FAA systems engineering lifecycle and documentation standards.
• Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE) or similar certifications.
