About the role
Hood Industries, Inc. is a blend of wood manufacturing and distribution concerns that include plywood, lumber manufacturing plants, and twenty-three specialty wood product distribution operations located in eighteen states. We are hiring production positions at our lumber mill located in Waynesboro, MS. We are seeking highly performing and motivated team players to join our team and grow with us. The positions are entry level positions that have opportunities for advancement. The primary purpose of a production associate is being responsible for cleaning designated areas in the production areas of lumber, bark, and sawdust using a variety of hand and mechanical tools/equipment safely and efficiently, assuring smooth and efficient machinery operation as well as providing for a safe workplace. Key Responsibilities:
- Commitment to working safely and following safety rules/procedures, and environmental guidelines.
- Cross-train on production equipment.
- Load or unload materials and products from machines.
- Monitor machines to ensure continued movement of lumber and materials throughout the mill.
- Perform cleanup activities throughout the mill.
- Use an assortment of hand tools to complete daily clean-up duties such as air hoses, shovels, brooms, blower, wheel barrel, etc.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma/GED preferred.
- Previous experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
- Ability to operate equipment safely and responsibly.
- Ability to understand, clearly communicate, and follow all safety rules and policies.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Observes all safety requirements, including Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Collaborate with other team members to ensure efficient production.
- Able to work nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime as required.
- Perform tasks such as walking, climbing, pushing, pulling, grasping and standing for up to 12 hours per day.
- Able to bend, stoop, stretch, twist, or reach with body, arms, and/or legs.
- Able to work in extreme temperatures and dusty and noisy conditions.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. throughout the work shift.
