Under the supervision of the Director of Childhood Services, the Food Service Supervisor will be responsible for all the food service duties of the Childhood Department and "Centro de Oro" (senior center).

Essential Functions

  • Oversight and supervision of on-site food and food services for the      childcare center.
  • Establish protocols for monitoring food expenditures and      maintaining budget expenses.
  • Oversee all safety and housekeeping rules and procedures and support      and encourage safety and good housekeeping in the kitchen and food storage      area. 
  • Provides supervision to the cook. 
  • Establishes and maintains good working      relationships with agency staff and staff from related businesses and      agencies.
  • Plan menus for the Early Childhood      Center with the CACFP consultant. 
  • Plans and posts weekly menus following      standards specified by the CACFP.
  • Orders supplies and maintains      inventory.
  • Makes direct purchases of food and      supplies as needed.
  • Receives and accounts for goods needed      to prepare meals.
  • Plans, prepares, and serves lunch      following Department of Health guidelines.
  • Maintain daily production records.
  • Ensures children are served      appropriate portions by D.O.H. and CACFP guidelines.
  • Prepares foods, ensuring children's      special dietary needs are met.
  • Takes safety precautions to prevent      accidents, fire, and food poisoning.
  • Completes all work promptly.
  • Attends scheduled staff meetings,      staff, and other center events as assigned.
  • Maintains confidentially.
  • Continues to develop professionally.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned      by the Supervisor. 

Authority:

This position holds a relatively high degree of independence within the agency’s policies and procedures. Must exercise considerable autonomy and initiative and make decisions regarding completing tasks and monitoring activities. Use sound judgment in making decisions and use established policies and procedures in the day-to-day direct service tasks.
