About the role

The Clinical Research Assistant I assists in the daily activities of clinical research studies, including collection and organization of study information. Assists in preparing grant applications and documents (e.g., Institutional Review Board, Grants and Contracts Office), and provides clerical support to Clinical Research Coordinators and others in assigned area.

The Institute for Genomic Health (IGH) at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai conducts clinical and translational research focused on advancing the integration of genetics and genomics into healthcare.The Bilingual Part-Time Research Assistant will support a range of IGH clinical research studies, with a particular focus on participant outreach, recruitment and enrollment, study coordination, data management, and research operations. This position requires fluency in both Spanish and English and may involve communication with research participants in either language.

This is an ideal opportunity for a graduate or medical student interested in gaining hands-on clinical research experience and exposure to genetics, genomics, and translational research.

  • Contact potential research participants to introduce clinical research studies and assess interest in participation
  • Communicate with participants and explain study procedures and next steps
  • Support participant recruitment, enrollment, and study follow-up activities
  • Coordinate study activities and participant logistics with research and clinical teams
  • Document participant communications, recruitment outcomes, and study activities
  • Enter and manage research data in REDCap and other study databases
  • Conduct routine data and documentation quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) reviews
  • Assist with the preparation, labeling, tracking, and coordination of research biospecimens, as applicable
  • Maintain accurate study, specimen, and logistics records
  • Support general clinical research operations and coordination across IGH studies
  • Assist with additional clinical and translational research activities, as appropriate
  • Associates Degree in Science or closely related field preferred or HS/GED plus two years of related experience
  • 1 year in research environment preferred

Preferred

  • Current graduate or medical student, or recent graduate with an interest in clinical research
  • Prior research, clinical, or patient-facing experience
  • Experience with REDCap or other clinical research databases
  • Interest in genetics, genomics, clinical research, or translational medicine
  • Bilingual Spanish/English Fluency
