About the role

The Team:

The Department of Medical Imaging at the Royal Hobart Hospital (RHH) offers a dynamic and collaborative work environment within Tasmania’s largest acute tertiary referral centre. The department provides comprehensive imaging services including general X-ray, CT, MRI, ultrasound, nuclear medicine, and interventional radiology to support statewide patient care across emergency, inpatient, outpatient, and specialist services. As the major clinical teaching and research centre, RHH works closely with the University of Tasmania and other institutions.  All our services work closely together to focus on delivering excellence in healthcare to achieve improved outcomes for our consumers, our workforce, and the Tasmanian community.

The Role:

A Clinical Coach in the Department of Medical Imaging at the Royal Hobart Hospital (RHH) plays a pivotal role in fostering clinical excellence and supporting nursing staff within a technologically advanced and multidisciplinary environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Clinical Coaching and Mentorship: Provide guidance and support to nursing staff, particularly those new to the department, through structured orientation programs, preceptorship, and ongoing clinical education. This ensures the development of competence and confidence in delivering high-quality patient care.

  • Promotion of Evidence-Based Practice: Lead initiatives that encourage the adoption of evidence-based practices within the nursing team, contributing to improved patient outcomes and adherence to best practice standards.

  • Leadership and Collaboration: Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team, including radiologists, radiographers, and administrative staff, to ensure seamless patient care and efficient departmental operations.

  • Professional Development: Facilitate and participate in professional development activities, supporting continuous learning and skill enhancement among nursing staff.

  • Quality Improvement: Engage in quality improvement projects aimed at enhancing patient safety, care efficiency, and service delivery within the Medical Imaging department.

This role is integral to maintaining the high standards of patient care at RHH, ensuring that nursing staff are well-supported and equipped to meet the complex needs of patients across various specialties.

You will need:

  1. Current knowledge of, and the ability to apply nursing/midwifery principles, procedures, and evidence-based practices in the delivery of patient/client care in a relevant clinical setting and in line with legal requirements, the Nursing Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA), Registered Nurse or Midwife Standards for Practice and other relevant professional standards.
  2. Demonstrated ability to use clinical coaching principles to support professional and clinical development of novice nurses.
  3. Demonstrated ability to provide clinical leadership to support the nursing management team, and to work effectively as a member of a multidisciplinary team.

Details of appointment:

Fixed term full time, day worker position, working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing from October 2025 for a period of up to eight (8) months.

*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.

Salary: $99,455 to $105,995 per annum (Pro rata). Our Employer 11.5% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

  • Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmania State Service) Agreement 2023.

Access to the Grade 4 salary range $99,455- $105,995 is subject to successful application for progression to Grade 4

In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:

  • Post Graduate Allowance of up to 10 % based on qualification type

Salary Packaging:

You’ll have access to salary package a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible. 

Benefits available to eligible candidates:

  • Travel and relocation assistance support available up to $15,000 for eligible appointees from overseas, and up to $10,000
