Our Human Resources team is excited to open the search for a dedicated Senior Recruiter to lead recruitment efforts for the Police Department. This role is crucial in hiring highly skilled police officers and 911 dispatchers who serve and protect our community.

As the Police Recruiter, you’ll collaborate closely with Police Department leadership and HR Business Partners to develop innovative, inclusive hiring strategies. This is an opportunity to make a meaningful impact on police recruitment and shape the future of public safety hiring in Salt Lake City.

The initial application review will take place on Friday, February 28th, and the position will close on the same day.

Salary Information:

The starting salary for this position ranges from $79,485 - $93,940, depending on experience and qualifications. Alternatively, candidates may be considered for an HR Recruiter role with a salary range of $65,614 - $77,193, based on level of experience.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead recruitment efforts for police officers, 911 dispatchers, and other critical roles within SLCPD.

• Develop and execute proactive talent acquisition strategies to attract top law enforcement and public safety professionals.

• Organize and administer promotional processes for leadership positions within the Police Department.

• Ensure compliance with veteran’s preference and other legally required hiring considerations.

• Track and analyze recruitment data to improve hiring processes and candidate engagement.

Who We’re Looking For:

The ideal candidate has 2-4 years of recruitment experience, preferably in law enforcement, public safety, or government hiring. We’re seeking someone who:

• Understands the unique challenges of police officer and 911 dispatcher recruitment.

• Has experience with full-cycle recruiting, from sourcing to onboarding.

• Thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys strategizing long-term hiring plans.

• Has strong relationship-building skills to connect with hiring managers, candidates, and community partners.

Job Duties:

• Works with HR staff and department hiring managers and creates successful recruitment plans designed to accomplish specific department recruitment goals.

• Posts jobs on the city’s portal, recruitment websites and other social media resources/outlets to recruit the best talent.

• Coordinates with marketing staff and assists with preparation of recruitment materials.

• Builds and maintains a social media presence on multiple platforms for effective marketing and communication of the City’s employer brand and employment opportunities.

• Develops recruitment screening questions and reviews applicant qualifications. May conduct pre-screening interviews and assist with scheduling interviews with department hiring managers.

• Ensures candidates receive legally-required preferential consideration, including state-mandated veteran’s preference, in accordance with statutory requirements.
