Summary

The New Product Quality Manager will be responsible for overseeing and advancing our quality strategy and execution within the product development lifecycle at Celestica.

 

He/she focuses on embedding Advanced Product Quality Approach into the New Product Designing phases at Celestica, focusing on Cloud and Connectivity Solutions. This person is responsible for ensuring deployment of robust techniques and methodologies to enable quality to be built-in the development cycles and processes. He/she will be pivotal in executing new ways of working and enabling quality assurance and assessment to ensure our processes and products are engrained with high-quality in mind. This role ensures compliance to company standards, customer expectations, driving continuous improvements in product quality and manufacturing processes.

Detailed Description

This role specifically focuses on continuously improving the design quality framework, ensuring quality is inherently built into product designs and processes.

  • Lead the quality assurance efforts for new product introductions, ensuring seamless transition from design to manufacturing, robust process capability, and superior product performance in the market.
  • Track key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to monitor and report on the effectiveness of quality processes and product quality monitoring.
  • Champion advanced risk management methodologies (S/D/PFMEA, FTA, NUDD) throughout the entire product design and development lifecycle, ensuring proactive risk identification and mitigation.
  • Collaborate with Product Development, Engineering, PMO and Operations leadership to embed quality requirements early in the design process and ensure seamless, high-quality design transfer to manufacturing.
  • Direct the execute Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) activities, including the development and approval of Control Plans, robust Process FMEAs (PFMEA), and Measurement System Analysis (MSA) strategies.
  • Ensure new products meet all defined quality and performance targets, achieving critical launch readiness milestones.
  • Establish systems for comprehensive new product quality monitoring post-launch, driving effective analysis of field data (e.g., warranty, customer complaints, field failures) to identify trends and lead timely corrective actions, working with Global Reliability teams.
  • Partner with Supply Chain and Supplier Quality teams to ensure supplier capabilities meet new product quality requirements, particularly for critical components and assemblies.
  • Lead, manage and develop the site quality NPI teams.

Knowledge/Skills/Competencies

  • Sound quality professional with solid years in quality managing various streams of quality but focusing on New Product Development and Introduction.
  • Strong personality with robust influential skills - Results driven, with a track record of tangible improvements led in previous organizations.
  • Excellent leadership, communication and problem-solving skills.
  • In depth knowledge of Advanced Product Quality Planning, ISO standards and processes.
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt minimum. Sound analytical background.
  • Excellent knowledge in Quality Management tools and techniques including: Requirements cascade, risk assessment, test and validation coverage, Design for Excellence (Dfx), manufacturing process qualification; establishing an overall understanding of end-to-end quality.
  • Ability to manage various stakeholders to meet quality goals and aspirations.
  • Ability to effectively lead, manage, train and motivate a diverse group of employees to achieve high quality levels within tight timelines and in a highly dynamic manufacturing environment.
  • Good understanding of typical systems and processes; Windows, Google, Microsoft.
  • Hands on.
  • Ability to perform in highly agile and dynamic situations.

Typical Experience

  • 7+ years of relevant experience, diversified in multiple quality disciplines.

Typical Education

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree in relevant field. Other Professional Certifications will be an added advantage.
