About the role:
Finix is looking for a driven and diligent individual to join our growing Finance team. The Senior Manager of Accounting will be responsible for preparing and reviewing the day-to-day accounting operations while managing the accounting team and its activities. The role will serve as the internal and external lead for all accounting-related matters including oversight of the accounting team’s deliverables, serving as the key stakeholder for cross-functional initiatives, and managing relationships with external auditors, tax advisors, and Finance partners.
The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), experience managing an accounting team, keen attention to detail, and thrives in a high-growth start-up environment. Additionally, the candidate has excellent interpersonal and communication skills and has demonstrated the ability to build cross-functional relationships.
This hybrid role entails working in the office 4 days per week in our San Francisco HQ. 

Role Responsibilities:

  • Maintain the close calendar and ensure a well-coordinated, consistent, and timely accounting close (monthly, quarterly, and annually)
  • Perform month-end close activities, including preparation of journal entries, account reconciliations, flux analysis, and day-to-day accounting operations
  • Prepare financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
  • Respond to requests for special reporting and special projects by understanding the problem statement, developing a plan, and executing deliverables
  • Manage annual audit and tax filing processes, including managing relationships with external auditors and tax advisors, owning PBC lists, and driving deliverable requests internally
  • Provide coaching, training, and guidance to new and existing staff as needed
  • Develop and maintain a strong internal control environment to ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial data.
  • Improve existing processes, controls, and documentation, suggest and implement improvements to scale accounting processes and increase accuracy and completeness

About You:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance and/or Business (Commerce)
  • CPA required
  • 7+ years of relevant experience, with at least 3 years of Big 4 public accounting firm experience
  • Prior experience in Payments or Fintech
  • Experience with NetSuite and familiarity with systems that support accounts payable, expense reporting, and payroll (i.e., Ramp, Paylocity, etc.)
  • Strong understanding of US GAAP and internal controls
  • Experience managing a team
  • Excellent organization skills and can handle multiple projects in a fast-paced, high-growth environment. Comfortable navigating uncertainty; embraces change; and approaches work with a continuous improvement mindset
  • Enjoys solving problems and serving customers of the finance organization, internally and externally
  • Positive attitude and desire to collaborate cross-functionally and work in a high-growth, rapidly changing environment

Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries at our headquarters in San Francisco, California. Individual pay is determined by work location, job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
