Cortez - Open Pit Blast Technician

Position Description:

Nevada Gold Mines is looking for an Open Pit Blast Technician to join our Cortez Operations team.

Responsibilities: 

Reporting to the Open Pit Blast Supervisor, the Open Pit Blast Technician is responsible for the following:

• Safely and effectively measure, prime, load, stem and tie in blast holes
• Ensure drill area is properly cleaned before drilling and maintain an awareness of what is happening in work area - other traffic, machinery and plant, individuals
• Perform other duties as assigned

The ability to work a rotating schedule of nights and days is an essential function of this role.

Qualifications:

• Previous Surface Blasting experience preferred
• Meet Federal and State eligibility requirements on handling explosives required
• Valid Nevada drivers’ license required
• Explosive handling experience, especially in a mining environment preferred
• Heavy equipment operating experience preferred
• Ability to carry at least 50 pounds required
• Excellent verbal, written, and radio communication skills required
• Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team required
• Satisfactory safety, performance, and attendance records required
