Description
Stages at the J (The Jewish Community Center’s Youth Theatre program) offers performance opportunities for students with a wide range of talents and background in theatre.
We are currently seeking an instructor to help music direct Willy Wonka Kids & Anastasia Youth Edition for students ranging from 2nd through 12th grade.
Schedule: The position will work August 3rd - November 30th. Schedule is part-time on Sundays 11:15pm - 5:00pm
Dry Tech on November 24th
Student Tech Rehearsal on November 29th
Performance Dates on November 23rd and 30th.
Essential Functions
- Maintain a safe and fun environment
- Music direct and teach vocal parts for student production
- Be prepared and dressed to reflect a positive image of The J
- Have lessons and staging prepped prior to class arrival
- Communicate with supervisor about any problems and concerns in the classroom
Requirements
- Prior experience with music directing school-aged productions
- B.F.A. or other degree related to teaching or theatre preferred, but not required
- Experience in elementary education and teaching a variety of ages and skill levels, especially 2nd -12th grade
- Ability to provide exemplary customer service to students and their parents/guardians
- Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with students of all ages and abilities
- Basic piano and ability to read music
Physical Requirements
This job requires frequent talking and hearing. Occasional sitting, standing, walking and exposure to loud noise of sound system.
