Position Summary:

The Manager of Clinical Engineering is responsible for developing a High Reliability Clinical Engineering program to maintain hospital-owned and leased equipment in a safe and serviceable condition. This role oversees the work order system and preventive maintenance programs that include all Clinical Engineering and medical equipment functions of the Environment of Care.

The Manager will have management oversight of Clinical Engineering across the Marshall Health Network (MHN) system and is directly responsible for ensuring regulatory compliance with The Joint Commission, OHFLAC, EPA, and CMS. The individual will also communicate across all levels of MHN on Clinical Engineering and maintenance-related matters.

The Manager will serve as an active member of multiple committees, including the Environment of Care Committee and will act as Chair of the Medical Equipment Subcommittee.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Associate Degree from a technical college in Electronics Technology required

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred

Experience:

  • 5+ years of experience as a Biomedical Technician II or III

  • 5–10 years of progressive biomedical maintenance experience in an acute care hospital setting

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to manage and lead the Biomedical team effectively

  • Strong critical thinking and independent problem-solving skills

  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills

  • Ability to manage a large workforce

  • Demonstrated leadership and management capabilities

  • Sound understanding of quality improvement concepts

  • Professional demeanor with sound judgment, diplomacy, and tact

  • Ability to work independently with initiative

  • Respect for individual differences and sensitivity to diverse perspectives

  • Capable of handling confidential and highly sensitive issues concerning MHN
