As Program Manager - SMP Hotel, you will play a key role in the global expansion of the Supplier Management Platform (SMP) to include additional countries, booking tools and clients. Reporting to the Director Project Management and part of the Product & Technology team, you will act as the workstream lead and main point of contact for the Manager of Hotel Commercialization that manages the Hotel Growth Initiative at Amex GBT. You will be the functional lead for one or more project managers and collaborate with SMP product owners and other program partners to successfully plan and execute the assigned program scope. Key Responsibilities:

  • Establish a program structure that meets the challenges of a complex global, cross-functional strategic initiative by applying PMI standards and best practices for project planning, project controls, monitoring, setting, and managing stakeholder expectations.
  • Collaborate with project and product managers and the PMO to define and maintain the team’s implementation roadmap, identify, and manage project dependencies and critical path across multiple workstreams to deliver expected results.
  • Develop clear success metrics for the execution of the projects and the program.
  • Input into initiative PMO communications, preparing steering committee and executive-level materials to effectively communicate project updates to all levels of organization adapting the style to the targeted audience.
  • Adapt the program delivery to changing prioritization and focus areas.
  • From inception to post-deployment, create a transparent and accountable environment between SMP and the other program teams including other product teams, the PMO, and key decision makers.
  • Understand the business and fiscal impact of decisions/solutions and their contribution to Amex GBTs financial performance.
  • Lead the identification and mitigation of issues and risks. Leverage your experience to anticipate risks in advance of impacts. Work with business partners and cross-functional teams analyze risks and issues and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Review mitigation strategies with key stakeholders.
  • Contribute to the PMO’s overall change management approach.
  • Maintain the project management tools in Smartsheet and improve where necessary.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or MBA in a related field; or equivalent related professional experience.
  • Passion for navigating complex business challenges, paying attention to detail, and partnering with cross functional teams.
  • Proven experience in program management, experience working on large scale, complex, global, cross-functional strategic initiatives.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to balance multiple priorities in a demanding environment across various teams and time zones, with a strong bias for action.
  • Ability to grasp new concepts quickly and make relevant connections to business implications.
  • Outstanding communicator, comfortable interfacing with leadership and executive-level audience, able to foster cross-company collaboration, able to connect vision, strategy, and action plans at the team level.
  • Master of project management software such as MS Project and Smartsheet and MS Office applications for reports, analysis, and presentations.
  • Detail-oriented with a proven history as a self-starter who is flexible and can work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills to effectively respond to shifting priorities, demands and timelines.
  • Foundational and working knowledge of product development life cycle and agile delivery methodologies.

The US national annual base salary range for this position is from $85,000 to $170,000.  The national range provided includes the base salary that GBT expects to pay for the role.  Actual base salary will be based on factors including the scope and complexity of the role and the successful candidate’s relevant experience, skills, knowledge, and work location.
