Construction Inspector - ODOT Certified

Woolpert is hiring a Construction Inspector – ODOT Certified at our Cincinnati, OH, Cleveland, OH, Columbus, OH, or Dayton, OH offices to join our dynamic CE&I team. This position reports to the CE&I Team Leader and is responsible for performing construction inspection and management duties. Qualified candidates will have ODOT inspection experience with relative ODOT certifications.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions  

 

As a Construction Inspector – ODOT Certified at Woolpert, you will: 

•  Perform construction inspection and management duties.
• Work independently and with others.
• Consistently apply Woolpert procedures.
• Perform quality assurance testing to ensure material compliance.
• Manage and inspect construction projects and materials for compliance with ODOT specifications and approved construction plans/project documents.
• Perform inspections according to ODOT contract protocols.
• Review and interpret construction documents, site drawings, as-built drawings, and specifications.
• Communicate with contractors daily and work to resolve project-related issues.
• Produce detailed daily and weekly reports.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements   

• ODOT inspection experience with relative ODOT certifications
• Construction management degree and/or 3 + years of construction experience.
• Proficient in Sitemanager / AASHTOWare, MS Office, Word, and Excel.
• Ability to communicate effectively with teammates and owners.
• General knowledge of construction management, inspections, methods, and materials.
• General knowledge of soil analysis, materials, compaction, and density tests.
• General knowledge of construction observation reporting and procedures.
• Ability to write detailed daily reports and accurately track quantity.
• Ability to measure, compute, and document contract pay items for payment.
• Effective communication skills with clients and staff.
• 10-hour OSHA Construction Certificate or ability to obtain in a timely manner.
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
• Ability to safely traverse construction and project sites and comply with applicable safety codes and requirements.
• Material Testing Certification or the ability to obtain in a timely manner.

 Travel

• Must be able to sit for extended periods of time.
• Must be able to operate and manipulate standard office equipment.
• Must be able to occasionally reach, bend, climb and/or balance.
• Must be able to frequently lift and/or move 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.
