Job Summary 
This position performs and coordinates committee and day-to-day operational activities in support of the IEEE Solid-State Circuits Society (SSCS) Executive Office in the manner determined by the Society Executive Director, and with input from the volunteer leadership. This position is managed by the Executive Director. It is integral to ensuring that SSCS is compliant and consistent with the policies, procedures, operational requirements and bylaws as directed by the IEEE Board of Directors, the Technical Activities Board, and the Society's Administrative Committee (AdCom.) The incumbent ensures that SSCS-related volunteer leaders are prepared to do their work in an efficient, effective and timely manner and in accordance with the Society's norms for quality, ethical behavior, accuracy, and confidentiality, and identifies and reports on metrics to ensure deliverables are met.

This position involves accountability for a variety of SSCS activities and business operations, working autonomously or under general guidance and as a subject matter expert for the following program areas:

·                  The SSCS Education Committee

·                  The SSCS Conferences Committee

·                  SSCS Technical Committees

·                  SSCS Nominations Committee

·                  SSCS’s relationships with IEEE Councils, Communities and Initiatives (CCIs)

·                  SSCS’s Fellow Search Committee (FSC)

·                  SSCS’s Student Engagement Ad Hoc committee

·                  Additional duties as assigned

The incumbent does not manage any direct reports, makes program-area administrative decisions, has limited budget oversight, and provides recommendations for program and process improvements.  The incumbent is accountable for all described actions including results of both internal and external contacts.


Key Responsibilities

Specific duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Partnering with volunteers to ensure timely and effective delivery of programs in the SSCS education portfolio including multiple annual Circuit Insights events, the annual Arduino Contest, Distinguished Lectures, monthly webinars, and an annual student circuit-design contest.
  • Partnering with society admins to ensure recorded educational assets are posted to the proper platforms (YouTube and/or Resource Center.)
  • Supporting the Conferences Committee with data gathering, interpretation, and reporting, and meeting organization/facilitation inside and outside of the regular pre-AdCom schedule. Examples of the latter include checkpoints on the society’s financially and technically co-sponsored portfolios, which can take place several times annually.
  • Supporting SSCS Technical Committee activities, including but not limited to chipathons and workshops. Partner with IEEE and Society marketing to publicize SSCS’s involvement in Engineering Projects in Community Service (EPICS.)
  • Supporting the SSCS Nominations Committee in its annual cycle of selecting candidates for SSCS Member-at-Large positions, and passing the selections to the IEEE Elections team.
