The Project Manager, Medical supports medical service delivery and healthcare-related projects from planning through implementation. Working under the supervision of senior managers, this role helps coordinate scope, schedules, compliance requirements, and reporting tasks to ensure successful project execution. The Project Manager contributes to operational improvements, documentation, and communication to maintain quality standards and contractual alignment across healthcare initiatives.
Essential Functions:
- Assist in defining project scope, objectives, deliverables, and timelines in coordination with senior project staff
- Support project activities to ensure alignment with the Performance Work Statement (PWS), healthcare protocols, and quality standards
- Maintain awareness of healthcare compliance requirements including laws, policies, accreditation, and SOPs
- Ensure that health services comply with healthcare laws, accreditation standards, policies, quality assurance, and government regulations
- Utilize electronic health systems (e.g., EHR) to run basic reports and support data tracking and analysis
- Ensure that medical contractors maintain high standards of care, stay up to date with the latest developments, and are equipped with the necessary skills to take on new challenges
- Help prepare and maintain project documentation, including plans, reports, and risk logs
- Communicate project updates, concerns, and progress to internal teams and stakeholders
- Serve as the main point of contact for subcontractors and project stakeholders, providing regular updates on project status, risks, and progress, and addressing concerns and adjusting plans as needed
- Identify potential project risks and develop mitigation strategies to minimize impact on project delivery
- Support emergency response efforts and mobilize healthcare operations as needed
- Anticipate issues and proactively address challenges to ensure the final deliverables meet the agreed-upon standards and project goals
- Assist with resource tracking, cost monitoring, and basic budgeting coordination
- Support quality control activities and contribute to continuous improvement efforts across the project lifecycle
- Address project challenges and obstacles and facilitate problem-solving and conflict resolution among the team members and stakeholders
- Ensure proper project closure, including final documentation, project deliverables, and post-project evaluations to capture lessons learned
- Support internal and external customer service efforts related to medical project quality and service delivery
- Track and document professional licenses and credentials of subcontractors
- Maintain ongoing communication and partnership with community stakeholders
- Other duties as assigned
Knowledge and Skills:
- Strong leadership and team management abilities
- Knowledge of Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) and government project compliance
- Strong understanding of medical operations and overseeing medical facilities
- Understanding of federal, state, and local security regulations
- In depth knowledge of healthcare regulations, policies, and emerging trends
- Proficient in utilizing Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems
- Proficient with Microsoft office products and Project Management software (e.g., MS Project, Asana, Trello)
- Familiarity with risk management techniques and tools is a plus
- Excellent communication skills
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills
- Ability to work both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
- Ability to manage budgets and resources effectively
- Problem solving and conflict resolution skills
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration, nursing, public health, or a related field; related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree required
- Five plus years' experience in healthcare operations and managing medical projects within a large organization required
