VCA West Coast Specialty & Emergency Animal Hospital is seeking relief Credentialed Veterinary Technician to work in our 24/7 emergency/multi-specialty practice in Fountain Valley, California.
Compensation :
Credentialed Veterinary Technicians : $ 26.50 - $ 32.00 / hr
ALL dependent on education, experience, credentials, location, nature of practice, schedule and additional responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with physical examinations and collecting patient histories
- Strong communication skills and the ability to compassionately interact and educate clients.
- Managing medical records, reports and correspondence
- Assist veterinarians during procedures, including patient monitoring, anesthesia administration, and surgical instrument preparation
- Monitoring general anesthesia plays an important role in this position. This includes heart rate, end-tidal carbon dioxide, respiratory rate, blood pressure, and temperature.
- Recognize and respond promptly to changes in patient status, taking appropriate action to ensure patient safety.
- Accurately document anesthesia protocols, patient information, and vital signs.
- Maintain detailed records of medications administered and any complications or issues encountered during procedures.
- Maintain accurate medical records and ensure proper documentation of anesthesia during procedures
- Flexibility in scheduling and multitasking capabilities in a fast-paced environment.
- Collaborate with the veterinary team to ensure a safe and sterile surgical environment
Collaboration:
- Work closely with doctors and team members to coordinate and optimize patient care.
- Communicate effectively with the team regarding anesthesia concerns and patient status.

- Maintain inventory and supplies for procedures and patient husbandry.
Qualifications:
- Current and valid Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) license
- Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and common conditions.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
- Compassionate and empathetic attitude towards animals and their owners.
- Knowledge and experience with handling and administering different drugs and following safety protocols.
