Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Join UCLA West Valley Medical Center as a Clinical Dietitian and play a vital role in providing exceptional medical nutrition therapy to inpatient areas across a variety of specialties.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct comprehensive nutrition assessments, develop care plans, and provide ongoing monitoring and reassessment.
  • Educate patients and provide appropriate referrals for continued care post-discharge.
  • Perform Nutrition-Focused Physical Exams (NFPE) and assess malnutrition.
  • Collaborate with dietetic technicians, food service staff, nurses, physicians, and the interdisciplinary healthcare team.
  • Participate in departmental initiatives, performance improvement activities, meetings, and patient care rounds.
  • Provide coverage across various units based on department needs, rather than a fixed assignment.

Job Qualifications

Required:
  • Registered Dietitian or Registered Dietitian/Nutritionist (RD/RDN) registered with the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics’ Commission on Dietetic Registration.
  • Understanding of food service systems, menu planning, and food safety, to ensure that patients receive appropriate meals during their stay.
  • Proficiency in conducting comprehensive nutritional assessments, including interpreting lab results and understanding the patient’s current and past medical history.
  • Availability to work weekends and holidays. 

 

Preferred:

  • Acute care experience
