Job Details:

Purpose

Seeking a Work Study Research Assistant who will work closely with the Dell Seton Abdominal Transplant Clinic team, the successful candidate will support research and quality improvement projects.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with patient data collection for the quantitative study of the barriers in access to transplantation.

  • Serve as the point of contact for patients to explain the research and gauge their interest in participating.

  • Obtain written consent from patients interested in participating in study.

  • Conduct in-person health literacy assessments with patients.

  • Become a proficient user of the UT Research software, REDCap. Enter and clean data collected, maintain documentation in REDCap and Box spreadsheets.

Required Qualifications

  • Eligible for Work-Study employment with UT

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)

  • Ability to show up on time and be flexible

  • Fluency in the English language with strong communication skills

  • Interest in public health, healthcare, social science, or research

  • Understanding of patient confidentiality

Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Fluency in Spanish

  • Experience working in a clinical setting involving patient interaction 

  • Experience with REDCap 

  • Coursework in health education, public health, research methodology, or social science

  • Experience in data collection and analysis

Salary Range

  • $16.00 Hourly

Working Conditions

  • Repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation
