We are looking for a Staff Subsystem Modeler Simulation Engineering Professional to join our team. The goal of a Staff Subsystem Modeler Simulation Engineering Professional at Wisk is to ensure that aircraft systems are correctly simulated and integrated within a number of simulation applications. These include, but are not limited to:Monte-Carlo type simulations for the development of autonomy algorithmsReal-time, Hardware-In-the-Loop (HIL) and System-Level simulations Avionics hardware and embedded software development and certification activitiesAircraft system development and certification activitiesGround segment development and certification activitiesEvaluating and validating aircraft performance Concept of Operations (ConOps) definition and validationOperator/’pilot’ trainingMaintenance training 

Why we need you:

  • The Staff Subsystem Modeler Simulation Engineering Professional is responsible for gathering and analyzing system/component requirements in order to represent system intent/performance in software (C++, Simulink, python, etc) for use in simulation applications.

What you will do:

  • Help lead the design, development, validation and deployment of advanced simulations for a diverse set of applications
  • Help to cultivate and develop departmental expertise with subsystem modeling 
  • Collaborate with internal customers to identify simulation system requirements, plan milestones and deliver critical tools/capabilities to support product development
  • Work with agile teams to manage the development backlog and to ensure that the needs of internal groups/IPTs are met
  • Define and fulfill long term simulation requirements including certification aspects of the simulation platform

What you have done:

  • Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline with 10+ years of relevant experience
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in dynamic system modeling, preferably in a real-time simulation environment
  • Proficiency in C/C++ 11, Matlab/Simulink, and python
  • Experience with three-dimensional dynamics: reference frames, DCMs, etc.
  • Experience developing in both Windows and Linux environments.
  • Experience writing software tests.
  • Knowledge of software validation procedures 
  • Experience working with HIL/SIL simulations and test environments
  • Strong software architecture design and development skills
  • Creative approach to problem solving
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Desired:

  • Advanced degree in Aerospace Engineering
  • Proficiency in modern C++ (17 forward)
  • CMake experience
  • Experience conforming with FMI.
  • Exposure to docker and docker-compose.
  • Experience with protocol buffers.
  • Ability to work effectively in a dynamic environment with changing needs and requirements
  • Familiarity with cloud technologies (GCP, AWS, Azure)
  • Familiarity with scaling simulation applications in a cloud environment
  • Prior experience with DO-178, DO-254 or similar certification standards
  • Familiarity with MBSE and MBD tools and methodologies
  • Prior experience with the design, development, test and certification of Flight Simulation Training Devices (FSTDs)
