Sr Software Engineer - Backend (Remote - US)

Salary Range: $165,000-$375,000 

 

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $165,000-$375,000 plus bonus eligibility and other elements of our total rewards package.  The range represents the amount bnsf | tech reasonably expects to pay for the position based on the level, scope, and responsibilities of the role.  Individual compensation is determined by the hiring location and additional factors including but not limited to job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. In addition to base pay, BNSF offers a comprehensive benefits package.

As a Sr Software Engineer, you will

• Design, develop, and maintain backend services and APIs
• Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code
• Collaborate with frontend developers to integrate user-facing elements with server-side logic
• Identify and troubleshoot performance and scalability issues
• Implement security best practices to protect sensitive data
• Work closely with product managers to understand requirements and deliver solutions
• Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and industry trends
• Engage in cross-functional collaboration throughout the entire software lifecycle to solve complex problems.
• Participate in design sessions and code reviews with peers to elevate the quality of engineering across the organization. 
• Be accountable for the quality, usability, and performance of the solutions.
• Consistently share best practices and improve processes within and across teams. 

 

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field or equivalent education or work experience.
• 6+ years of experience in back-end development, with demonstrated success delivering enterprise-scale solutions.
• Fluency and Specialization with technologies such as Java, Springboot, Oracle, Docker, Openshift and Graffana.
