Job Summary:

 

The Director of Environmental Health and Safety will develop and implement the strategy for ensuring occupational safety & health programs for Canteen’s Pacific Division with the goal of reducing hazards and promoting a safe working environment. You will use your knowledge and experience to provide safety training, coaching, consultation, and technical support to our operations team. This is a critical role that will be a key member of the Division staff. Must be based in either the Bay Area or Southern California.

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Develop, implement and maintain a comprehensive safety program and create goals to reduce employee injury and illness and increase compliance with local and federal regulations
  • Lead investigation and resolution of health and safety related claims and incidents to determine root causes and develop and implement recommendations for prevention
  • Maintain injury record keeping in accordance with local, state and federal regulations
  • Develop, implement, and maintain a safety program around auto and fleet management policies
  • Identify programs and tools to positively impact safety for our associates
  • Analyze and benchmark risk management and regulatory compliance goals
  • Monitor staff activities, such as injury trend analysis and countermeasure development, workplace inspections, and work activity observation and monitoring
  • Conduct health and safety inspections to identify hazards, ensure compliance with regulatory standards, and recommend controls
  • Manage policies and procedures associated with Employee Health and Safety; partner with internal partners to ensure reflection of programmatic or regulatory changes
  • Performs other duties as assigned

 

Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • At least 5-7 years of relevant experience
  • Demonstrate ability to support cross-functional teams
  • Ability to develop and maintain safety data dashboards, benchmark and month end metrics
  • Ability to accurately analyze data, interpret information, and formulate recommendations
  • Ability to conduct investigations and evaluations and evaluating cost and risk factors
  • Ability and willingness to travel
