The position

Scania is in an exciting phase right now, developing a product portfolio for heavy vehicles fitting our customers future needs. As part of the TRATON group, we work closely together with our colleagues within MAN,

Navistar and VW truck & Bus to find the best product quality, price, and shortest lead times for our new common modular toolbox, while working both with ICE and BEV vehicles.

With several new complex projects ongoing, we are now expanding our procurement team within the segment of cable harness, an interesting product for you who want to work with products connected to the whole vehicle,

like working with a high amount of variants, and continuous change requests towards challenging timelines.

 

As a Strategic Purchaser within project procurement, you are responsible for sourcing prototypes and  serial orders, as well as following up supplier project deliveries within cable harness and electrical components.

You will be involved already from the development phase of new products, following the prototype maturement level through the projects development phase,

and all throughout serial production ramp up implementation during new product introductions.

You will be handling nominations of suppliers, create a continuous relationships with our current project suppliers, and be the bridge between Scania R&D, production, the market department and logistics towards the suppliers.

 

Traton is now developing a common modular system, and this will create the need for a complete review of the electrical system, the harness strategy and development of new parts fitting several brands.

You will be working closely with the commodity purchasers, the quality department, procurement colleagues at MAN and the designers on R&D to make this happen.

 

The assignment is stationed in Södertälje, Sweden. We work in a hybrid environment, being in the office at least 3 times a week, collaborating both digitally and physically with colleagues, other departments within Scania, and suppliers.

The position contains travels to suppliers and other sites when needed.

 

Who are you?

We think that you have the following skills to succeed within the role and to help us develop our team:

• Technical background or interest in technology and electronics
• Work experience in a technical environment, preferably within purchasing, logistics, production or R&D.
• Academic background  within engineering, economics, business administration, or similar relevant area
• Analytical and strategic mindset, putting the company’s business goals as a priority
• Problem solving skills and like finding flexible solutions, working with continuous improvements to improve efficiency. Adaptive to change
• Like to have several different projects and tasks ongoing at the same time
• Team player and have good communication skills
• Fluent in written and speaking English. Knowledge in Swedish is a plus
• Experience within purchasing or B2B sales is meriting, as well as experience within the automotive industry
