General Description of Position
The Adjunct Instructor, Ford ASSET is responsible for instructing students in various ASSET courses (as needed), developing, and updating the courses taught in a classroom/ laboratory environment, and coordination of the cooperative education. Teaching assignments for this position include but are not limited to, theory, testing, diagnosing, and service procedures on current Ford vehicles. This position is also responsible for the maintenance of lab equipment, completing production orders, advising students, and working with program and college committees. This is a part-time temporary position.

Essential Functions

To Provide Student Instruction in Program Courses as Assigned Provide instruction to a diverse student population in the Ford ASSET Dealer Apprenticeship program in safety, hazard communication standard/hazard chemical right-to-know, fundamental theory, component testing, system diagnosis and service procedures that include but are not limited to: principles of automotive electricity, automotive electrical systems, battery, starting and charging systems, use of electrical diagnosis charts included in Ford service manuals; electronic-controlled systems including, but not exclusive to gasoline and diesel fuel control, ignition control, heating and air conditioning control, driver information, body control, instrument clusters, transmission control, anti-lock brakes, cruise control, supplemental inflatable restraint; diagnostic test equipment including diagnostic scan equipment, automotive oscilloscope, labscope, analog and digital volt-ohm-amp multimeter involving current Ford cars and light duty trucks. To Coordinate Cooperative Education Experiences Coordination of the cooperative education that includes dealership visitations, student performance evaluations, and record keeping of the ASSET students’ work experience during their co-op quarters. The dealership visits involve the Instructor, ASSET traveling to various locations in Nebraska and the surrounding states. To Develop New Courses and Update Existing Courses Develop new courses and update existing courses as required to keep the Ford ASSET program current with industry standards and processes. New course development includes writing course objectives, develop syllabi, developing handouts and tests. Also updating of existing courses to ensure that the course is current with industry standards. To Maintain and Upgrade the Ford ASSET Program, Classroom and Laboratory Instructional Facilities and Equipment Responsible for maintenance of all instructional facilities and equipment and to ensure that it is maintained in a safe and proper working order for maximum, positive visual impact and learning effectiveness. To Complete and Maintain Program and Student Records Responsible for maintaining permanent student records on courses taught, following and enforcing college policies regarding attendance policy, grading, Ford Dealer policy, and student achievement. Completing production orders on all production projects and maintaining inventory record of all program equipment is required. To Develop/Maintain Working Relationships with Ford Motor Co., and Ford Dealers Responsible for developing and maintaining a professional working relationship with the Instructor, Ford Motor Co., and Ford Dealership personnel to foster confidence in the Ford program and the students. Maintain Technical Competency in Teaching Area Required to stay technically competent in all areas of teaching responsibilities by attending all required Ford Training Center courses for their teaching category to meet minimum program standards required by Fort Motor Co. Participate in College and Transportation Division Activities and Committees Will attend, participate, and support all program activities (i.e., advisory committee meetings, Open House, division meetings, Ford sponsored dealer meetings, Ford Graduation Recognition dinners, etc.) and college activities and committees as required. Will Act as a Student and Technical Advisor for the Ford Program Will advise and help register Ford students for correct courses, advise students on academic standing, support and explain college policies and procedures with students, and complete all records, forms, etc., as necessary for proper student articulation and program operation.
