Job Description

Primarily responsible for managing the Claims unit.  Monitor, advise, control and coordinate associates and workflow within the assigned unit to meet goals and standards.

  • Coach and develop associates to meet and/or exceed performance goals.
  • Evaluate associates and complete performance evaluations with recommendations for salary adjustments, and/or disciplinary action.
  • Review all claims reports for accuracy and report to Principals any significant changes in claims payment, claim types, etc.
  • Leads all Claims Examiners – making sure they are completing tasks, answering the phone correctly and underwriting the claims correctly. 
  • Review claim calls to ensure proper claims underwriting and Review Claims examiner calls to critique the customer calls and go over with each examiner to improve skills.
  • Handling of DACO claims. 
  • Have weekly meetings with the Claims examiners to go over new products or problem cases and other training.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience
  • 2-5 years’ experience which includes exposure to relevant commercial, administrative or industry work environment.  
  • Experience in extended service contract sales or service required. 
  • Prior managerial experience required.
  • Refining skill sets
  • Proven track record of keeping promises to Fortegra team
  • Execution leadership
  • Proven track record of leading a team to improved performance for customers and Fortegra
  • Significant exposure to client services from an operational and leadership perspective
  • Ability to solve complex business problems via initiative and teamwork

  • Excellent problem-solving and communications skills
  • Solid customer focus and should be able to operate well in teams
  • Good telephone manner
  • Ability to develop and motivate staff

  • Other duties and special projects as needed.
