Description:
ICMS is looking for an experienced Electrical Engineer to provide design and project management services to U.S. Coast Guard Civil Engineering Unit (CEU) in Miami, Florida. Services include electrical engineering design, shore infrastructure maintenance, construction, improvement, and alteration projects to assist with overall acquisition objectives of the organization. CEU Miami provides a multitude of services in support of Coast Guard shore facilities and fixed aids to navigation within the geographical boundaries of the Seventh and Eighth Coast Guard Districts. The geographic area of responsibility ranges as far south as Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands; up the east coast of the continental United States to and including South Carolina; the entire Western River Basin from North Dakota to the mouth of the Mississippi River, the Gulf Coast, and as far west as New Mexico.
The Electrical Engineer shall provide electrical engineering services to provide the necessary level of administrative, professional, and technical support required for electrical engineering design project management to facilitate the overall objectives of CEU Miami. The primary work product will include providing design services to rehab/modernize electrical distribution within a built facility; replace/expand exterior power distribution systems within a Coast Guard installation; load sizing for emergency generator installations; design pier shore tie power systems for connection to ship-board power systems; scope/design fire alarm detection systems; scope/design access and intrusion detection systems; and troubleshoot electrical systems.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The primary responsibilities of the position will include but not limited to:
- Provide electrical engineering services in support of work associated with projects on the Advanced Acquisition Plan and other inserted projects.
- Prepare design documents and/or scopes of work for Architectural and Engineering services, Design/Build services and construction work. This includes preparing drawings, technical specifications, cost estimates and other documents, as required, for complex construction projects on sites with diverse climatic, geographic, and environmental conditions. It also includes providing technical advice to contracting officers during negotiations.
- Perform site investigation of project sites to gather essential data for new or renovation work.
- Provide in-house electrical engineering advice and reviews.
- Update enterprise database system for budgeting, project execution and construction submittal reviews.
- Coordinate with site contacts and multi-discipline design team members.
- Conduct conceptual design meetings with in-house and site personnel.
- Provide support services to architectural and engineering designers in Coast Guard specific project documentation functions.
- Review and comment on submittals, requests for information and work schedules as submitted by construction contractors.
- Prepare procurement packages associated with design and award packages.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or registration as a professional civil or structural engineer in a state of District of Columbia, Guam, or Puerto Rico
- A licensed Electrical Engineer or other industry-standard professional licensure related to the position is highly desirable
- Minimum of 5 years of experience working in the electrical engineering field
- Trained and skilled in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, Microsoft Office, computer-aided design (CAD), and database materials and programs to perform work activities
