About the role

Reporting to the Deputy Title IX Coordinator for Discrimination and Resolutions, the Resolution Specialist assists the DTIXCDR with needed non-punitive educational conversations, the resolution and adjudications of cases that are currently in the Office of Equal Rights & Title IX and to help enforce the University’s Sexual Misconduct Policy and Nondiscrimination and Equal Opportunity Policy.

Primary responsibilities would be to facilitate educational conversations and help with case resolutions and adjudications at the direction of the Deputy TIX Coordinator for Discrimination and Resolutions. Candidates must clearly understand policies and procedures relating to Title IX, Clery, VAWA, and their state counterparts. Candidates must be comfortable having difficult conversations, regarding sensitive and personal information. These conversations will be had with primarily students and as needed, with faculty and staff.

This position is identified as a Campus Security Authority (CSA) for Clery Act purposes and a Title IX Responsible Employee under Title IX. This designation requires annual training as well as other training requirements that the employee must complete. Any and all training requirements will be communicated to the employee. A CSA and Title IX Responsible Employee has ongoing reporting requirements in order to ensure compliance with the Jeanne Clery Act and Title IX regulations. Satisfactory completion and maintenance of associated training is required. Failure to meet these training requirements will result in disciplinary action, up to and including termination.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conduct and facilitate educational conversations and case resolutions with students,These conversations will be delegated to the Resolution Specialist at the request of the DTIXCDR.
  • To be comfortable having difficult and awkward conversations regarding sex and sexual misconduct.
  • To be knowledgeable of Virginia and federal laws related to anti-harassment and nondiscrimination for all protected classes, and regulatory trends in higher education.
  • To know the Sexual Misconduct Policy and the Non-Discrimination and Equal Opportunity Policy. To have regular and consistent meetings with the TIXC, TIXCIS, and TIXCDR, as well as the Intake Specialist Team regarding ongoing cases.
  • Assess for campus safety concerns and refer such concerns to the appropriate persons or offices.This includes ensuring compliance with the Jeanne Clery Act, Title IX, and Liberty University policies / procedures related to Review Committee / Threat Assessment Team (TAT) reviews, issuing timely warning notices, and emergency restrictions.
  • Work directly with the DTIXCDR and Case Manager to help coordinate informal resolutions, appeal processes and adjudications.
  • Assist the DTIXCDR by helping, facilitating, and confirming all training needs are met by LU faculty/staff serving in those roles and processes.
  • Effectively communicate the mission of the OEC and information regarding the OEC’s complaint resolution processes including formal and informal resolution options.
  • Consistently demonstrate professionalism, thoughtfulness, and a Christlikeapproach to each matter and person.
  • Attend departmental and other official Liberty University meetings as required.
  • Act as liaison to faculty, staff, and administration regarding concerns related to the OEC policies, procedures, and supportive measures.
  • Maintain detailed, objective, and appropriate documentation using the case management software, Maxient.
  • Remain knowledgeable of Virginia and federal laws related to anti-harassment and nondiscrimination for all protected classes, and regulatory trends in higher education.
  • Recommend updates, revisions, and changes to the policies and procedures, internal office forms, office publications (manuals, website information, brochures, etc.), and other related materials to direct supervisor.
  • Provide reports, statistics, and trends on a requested basis to direct supervisor.
  • Maintain qualifications through ongoing training and professional development.
  • Work effectively as a team member, embracing and fostering the University’s mission.
  • Facilitating office projects at the direction of TIXC, DTIXCDR, DTIXCIS, and DTIXCI for the successful resolution of departmental cases.
  • All other duties and responsibilities as assigned by TIXC, DTIXCDR, DTIXCIS, DTIXCI

Education and Experience

Required:
