ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Bring up supplies
- Install new equipment
- Repair existing equipment
- Put straps back in legs
- Replace hammers in hammer mills
- Install sheaves and belts
- Replacing chains and sprockets
- Repairing hoses for all departments
- Lubricating the assigned plant equipment
- Plumbing repairs
- Routine tractor repairs
- Couplings and grid repairs
- Concrete and masonry work
- Window and screen repairs
- Fabricating all types of sheet metal and iron work
- Installing bearings on equipment
- Handling call in work after regular hours
- Repairing and changing of motors.
- Checking of the air compressors and changing of filters (air and oil)
- Repairing and changing of starters and their components
- Testing and diagnosing electrical problems
- Trouble shooting of electrical equipment
- Replacing of couplings between motors and other equipment
Good house keeping practices will be followed. This will include:
- The use of magnets to pick up metal shavings.
- The practice of wiping down areas that are dirty or oily with in an appropriate manner will be used.
- All parts and pieces will be accounted for at the end of a job or shift. If documentation is required it will be complete.
DIMENSIONS
Operates primarily on the 1st shift but as job requires may be asked to work other hours as the business requirements may dictate.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
All applicants for Maintenance Mechanic position should possess a high school diploma or equivalent (GED). Basic fabrication, electrical and mechanical skills required. **ALL APPLICANTS MUST PASS A SKILLS TEST.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Must have the ability to speak fluent English as primary language. Must have the ability to read, analyze, and interpret memo, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Must have the ability to write in English and complete reports.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to work with mathematical concepts and apply concepts such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to define and solve problems collects data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instruction in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables at any given time.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
On-going training to enhance performance in position as required.
