What you’ll be doing: 

This new role at Cruise is for those applicants who are up for the challenge to build something new and critically important to the company and to make a positive impact in this world.  

As the Staff Quality Engineer for Operations, you will be helping to build the Quality function at Cruise. Unlike other companies where you would be entering an established quality department complete with long-time or antiquated legacy systems and an established company culture, at Cruise, you get to start from the ground-up. This role will have immediate impact and positive returns across the Operations organization within Cruise.

 

On a day-to-day basis, you will:

  • Create and forge a strong quality and continuous improvement culture within Operations, working directly with Operations Leadership to identify key gaps and opportunities to embed key foundational Quality principles

  • Collaborate and partner with the Operations teams to measure and drive synergy and improvements across the organization

  • Partner with peers within the Quality Management Systems organization to:

    • Develop and implement innovative programs focusing on improving product quality and services within Operations

    • Draft quality standards and policies and develop metrics and KPIs to measure internal and customer quality outcomes and processes within Operations

    • Design and drive quality-related programs that improve the efficiency and effectiveness of Cruise’s products and services within Operations

  • Develop methods, processes and tools to embed quality within the Operations organization to evaluate, audit, validate, and improve Cruise’s quality system performance

  • Implement a Quality Management System (QMS) within the Operations organization

What you must have: 

  • Can-do attitude, willing to partner, collaborate, listen and ultimately build relationships that will be key in your success.

  • Comfort with a fast-paced, results driven, start-up environment

  • 8+ years of experience in Operations Quality experience and 3+ years in a leadership role

  • Experience with quality management tools including:

    • Continuous improvement and root cause analysis tools (5-why, fishbone, affinity, etc)

    • Nonconformance management tools (both off-the-shelf and experience with developing home-grown solutions)

  • Experience with Quality Management System standards (ISO 9001 / AS9100 / IATF 16949)

  • BS in Engineering, Technology, Operations, Quality or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Experience at an automotive / aerospace / aviation / high-tech / consumer electronics organization that is well-known and widely respected for world-class quality processes and practices

  • Experience in a start-up environment, building foundational elements of a Quality system from the ground floor

The salary range for this position is $122,700 - $180,500. Compensation will vary depending on location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. You may also be offered a bonus, restricted stock units, and benefits. These ranges are subject to change.
