Description
Position Summary:
This individual will work with our various binding authorities and program markets to underwrite, rate, and deliver quotes to our brokers/agents. This role is also responsible for managing the Personal Lines team within RISCO.
This role strictly adheres to our Corporate Standards of Excellence and procedural guidelines spelled out in our Professional Procedure Manual.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Oversee and direct a team of employees, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
- Establish clear, measurable objectives for the team that support broader company initiatives.
- Foster effective collaboration and communication within the team to enhance productivity.
- Delegate tasks efficiently and track progress to ensure timely completion of deliverables.
- Offer ongoing support and mentorship to team members as needed.
- Conduct regular performance evaluations and feedback sessions to assess individual and team progress.
- Identify skill gaps and create development opportunities to help team members grow.
- Cultivate a positive and motivating team culture that encourages peak performance.
- Keep senior leadership updated on team developments and address any challenges proactively.
Essential Job Functions:
- Responsible for renewal book of business.
- Develop strong working relationships with broker/agents.
- Assist other under underwriters/serve as back up.
- Input and model individual accounts.
- Underwrite new and renewals based on applications received.
- Adhere to RISCO underwriting guides.
- Work with company underwriters for any referral business.
- Follow up for all necessary underwriting information.
- Negotiate pricing with brokers/agents.
- Deliver bindable quotes with binding checklist/subjectivities.
- Bind policies and invoice policies.
- Order inspections and review inspections when completed.
- Issue recommendations or notices of cancellation based on inspections or other underwriting information.
- Review endorsement requests and issue endorsements.
- Adhere to state regulations and guidelines relative to timely filings of surplus lines affidavits.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Skills and Abilities:
- Fluency in MS Office products.
- Superior verbal and written communication skills.
- Good working knowledge of insurance coverage and terminology.
- Ability to multitask continually, reassess and prioritize workloads as needed, and operate in an ever-changing environment is critical.
- Ability to work well in a team environment.
- Ability to communicate clearly, to work well with others, and to manage time effectively.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in relative field preferred.
- 5+ years’ experience as PL Underwriter.
- Must understand how rates are achieved.
- Producer license or ability to obtain license in first 120 days.
