About the role

Oxford Risk Management Group, LLC was founded in 2010 and continues to provide the highest caliber of captive insurance in the nation.  We excel in offering various claims services tailored to Enterprise Risk Management and Limited Lines Captive programs.

The Senior Claims Advocate serves as a high-level client advocate and technical expert within the claims function of a captive insurance organization. This role focuses on navigating and resolving complex, high-severity claims—especially in heavy classes of business such as transportation and construction. The individual will advocate on behalf of the insured, ensuring equitable resolution, leveraging policy language, legal frameworks, and financial mechanisms unique to captive structures. The role requires deep claims knowledge, negotiation experience, and a strategic mindset to align claims outcomes with broader risk financing and operational goals.

Your Impact:

  • Serve as the primary client advocate on complex and litigated claims, ensuring fair treatment and efficient resolution through TPAs, defense counsel, and insurers.
  • Develop and execute resolution strategies, including structured settlements, reimbursement agreements, and alternative dispute resolutions.
  • Oversee all claim-related processes, which include assessing applicable coverage, facilitating investigations, determining liability, participating in litigation, reserving, and settlements.
  • Act as a liaison between the captive insurance entity and the TPA to address coverage issues and facilitate resolutions, including conducting internal discussions as needed.
  • Advocate proactively for captives in all facets of claims management to ensure optimal outcomes.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional departments to ensure clear communication and efficient operations, offering technical support to other operational teams.
  • Maintain awareness of TPA agreements, pricing structures, and service guidelines to ensure compliance and quality of service, including—but not limited to—cash calls, pricing issues, loss run errors, or filing and pursuing E&O claims with TPAs.
  • Review and disseminate communications to adjusters, captive members, and brokers, ensuring all parties are informed.
  • Address and mediate questions or concerns from insured parties, adjusters, and brokers to resolve disputes effectively.
  • Interpret and advise on policy language to maximize coverage application and manage client expectations.
  • Represent the captive and insured in claim reviews, settlement conferences, mediations, and high-stakes negotiations.
  • Serve as a consultative partner to insureds, providing strategic input during catastrophic events or claim clusters.
  • Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to balance financial impact, regulatory obligations, and reputational risk.

Successful Candidates Will Have:

  • Minimum 8–12 years of experience handling complex commercial claims, including litigation, excess coverage, or self-insured retention programs.
  • Experience advocating for insureds in high-risk industries or captive structures.
  • Deep knowledge of liability and casualty lines; transportation or similar heavy-risk sector background preferred.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively with clients, TPAs, legal counsel, actuaries, and internal executives.
  • Familiarity with financial settlement tools such as structured settlements, annuity-backed arrangements, or claims reserve strategies.
  • Experience in captive insurance programs, risk retention groups, or alternative risk transfer mechanisms.

Certifications:

  • AIC, CPCU, or ARM designations strongly preferred.
