Brown & Brown is seeking a Technical Accounting Manager to join our growing team in Daytona Beach, FL!
The Technical Accounting Manager is responsible for accurate accounting and reporting for the Company’s complex accounting transactions including acquisitions and divestitures. This position plays a critical role in the success of the Corporate Accounting Department. The individual will perform a variety of accounting and reporting functions relating to both the financial operations of the Corporate Office and the analysis of information provided by Brown & Brown’s individual profit centers.
How You Will Contribute
Review purchase agreements and related documents and assess key transaction terms to determine the initial and ongoing accounting for acquisitions
Prepare valuation models for acquired businesses (domestic and international) including calculation of consideration and fair value determination for goodwill, intangible assets and contingent consideration arrangement (earnouts)
Participate in discussions with operations and M&A teams to understand acquired businesses to assist in determining accurate inputs to valuation models
Review and analyze valuation models prepared by team internally and by third party specialists for larger acquisitions
Coordinate with internal team and external specialists to ensure timely and accurate completion of acquisition accounting entries including initial purchase price allocation entries, subsequent measurement period adjustments and earnout fair value changes
Research, analyze and apply technical accounting guidance
Prepare assessments of and accounting entries for divestitures
Support annual goodwill impairment testing process
Support SEC reporting process by preparing footnote disclosures, reviewing filings, tying data to source documents and XBRL tagging review
Communicate with external auditors to provide requested support and facilitate information
Analyze account balances and transactions to ensure accurate reporting including foreign currency transactions
Other duties as assigned
Licenses and Certifications:
Current CPA preferred, or desire to achieve CPA certification in the near future
Skills & Experience to Be Successful:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting
7+ years of accounting experience with exposure to acquisition accounting and valuations and an understanding of foreign currency matters
Strong analytical, problem solving, and organizational skills including ability to work independently and on a team under time constraints, and with flexibility to meet demands of the position
Strong communication and interpersonal skills including demonstrated work ethic and desire to strive for continuous improvement <
