About the role

Position Summary:
The Early Childhood Education (ECED) Faculty and Field Placement Coordinator will collaborate with the Anderson Community Schools D26 Career Center Early Childhood Dual Credit Program and assist with coordinating student apprenticeships. The faculty will approve and supervise field placements for all ECED students on the Anderson campus. This role combines instructional responsibilities, career coaching, and leadership in managing and supervising student apprenticeships and field placements. The faculty member will co-teach ECED courses for high school dual-credit students, assess and provide feedback on student work, post both high school and college grades, and guide students in achieving their academic and career goals.
This position also includes career coaching and advising for students in the dual enrollment program, with a focus on ensuring successful high school completion, transfer opportunities, and career readiness. Emphasis will be placed on supporting students in accessing and leveraging the T.E.A.C.H. Early Childhood Indiana scholarship to complete the Ivy Tech ECED AS TSAP pathway and, if aligned with their goals, transfer to a bachelor's degree program.

Key Responsibilities:

Dual Enrollment Program Coordination

  • Collaborate with the high school instructor for the dual-credit ECED program in collaboration with D26, ensuring alignment with Ivy Tech's curriculum and academic standards.

  • Develop and maintain partnerships with local early learning programs to secure student apprenticeship placements.

  • Assist in the completion of all necessary apprenticeship paperwork.

  • Act as a liaison between Ivy Tech, D26, and community partners to ensure successful program implementation and continuous improvement.

Instructional Duties

  • Co-teach ECED courses in collaboration with the high school instructor for high school dual-credit students, using engaging, age-appropriate, and research-based teaching strategies aligned to the NAEYC Professional Standards and Competencies for Early Childhood Educators.

  • Provide timely and constructive feedback on assignments and assessments to support student learning and development.

  • Post both high school and college final grades in accordance with institutional policies and deadlines.

  • Incorporate field placement and experiential learning opportunities into the curriculum to enhance hands-on learning opportunities.
     

Field Placement Coordination

  • Coordinate and supervise student apprenticeships and field placements for all Anderson D26 students in the program.

  • Assist with field placement coordination/approval for regular Ivy Tech Anderson students and check in with sites and students while out in the field. 

  • Ensure field placements align with program objectives and meet accreditation standards.

  • Monitor student performance during apprenticeships, providing feedback and support to both students and site supervisors.

  • Maintain accurate documentation of field placements and related student activities.
     

Career Coaching and Advising

  • Advise ECED dual credit students to ensure successful high school completion and alignment with their transfer and career goals.

  • Support students in navigating the T.E.A.C.H. Early Childhood Indiana scholarship program to complete the Ivy Tech ECED AS TSAP pathway.

  • Provide guidance for students considering transfer to bachelor’s degree programs, including creating clear pathways for academic and career advancement.

  • Assist students in identifying and securing employment opportunities in the early childhood education field.
     

Administrative Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Early Childhood Education Department Chair to align program goals and outcomes, including necessary documentation for grant outcomes and NAEYC accreditation.

  • Work with the Department Chair to coordinate reporting and forms for apprenticeship grant payments.

  • Stay current with trends and best practices in early childhood education to ensure program excellence.

  • Maintain compliance with state, federal, and accreditation standards for early childhood
