About the team

Worldpay, LLC seeks Senior Full Stack Java Software Developer in Cincinnati, OH to design, develop, and test software for scalability, reliability, and data recovery associated with a high-volume, high-availability platform.

What you will be doing

The Senior Full Stack Java Software Developer will architect and implement end-to-end solutions across front-end and back-end systems, ensuring alignment with enterprise standards and long-term scalability.  Additionally, the role will:

• Collaborate with cross functional teams (Product, Platform, Merchant Services and Support) to convert business requirements into technical solutions.
• Participate in software design meetings to determine technical requirements.
• Use Agile methodologies such as pair programming and test-driven development to maximize productivity and quality.
• Deploy new features to production with zero platform downtime and no impact on end customers who are currently processing.
• Oversee release readiness and ensure production stability through proactive monitoring and rollback strategies.
• Build domain expertise in ecommerce payments and apply engineering expertise to develop new product features.
• Work in a leadership-oriented, team-focused culture, where strong collaboration and communication are critical.
• Design and develop complex file processing systems for legacy mainframe platforms, requiring proficiency in fixed-format file structures, EBCDIC and ASCII encoding, and the ability to interpret and implement proprietary file specifications.
• Demonstrate deep understanding of major card networks—including Visa, Mastercard, Discover, and American Express—as well as various debit networks, to ensure accurate implementation of transaction flows, compliance with network specifications, and support for diverse payment processing scenarios.
• Lead performance testing and optimization of payment processing systems—including authorization, capture, refund, and reversals—using modern tools such as Locust and Kafka, while enhancing deployment pipelines with Kubernetes, Jenkins, and Ansible.

Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related field and five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in the job offered or a related occupation:

• architecting and maintaining globally distributed services using Kubernetes for orchestration and Kafka to ensure availability with scalable microservices and asynchronous communication;
• designing database schemas and optimizing queries for DB2, PostgreSQL (relational) and Cassandra, DynamoDB (NoSQL) to support high-volume transactional workloads;
• performing data recovery and scalability utilizing SQL and distributed database systems;
• creating and maintaining RESTful APIs with idempotent operations to ensure consistency in payment processing workflows and robust/ stateless API design;
• implementing Circuit Breaker patterns and observability solutions including logging, metrics, tracing to enable self-healing platforms and providing proactive issue resolution and maintaining uptime in a globally distributed environment;
• optimizing distributed systems to handle high transaction volumes while maintaining sub-second latency deploying features with zero downtime and no customer impact, necessitating scalability and fault tolerance.

Telecommuting and/or working from home may be permissible pursuant to company policy. When not telecommuting, must report to work site.
