What You Will Do:
We are currently searching for a Data Analyst. This role will independently provide support services to satisfy the overall operational objectives. This is a full-time opportunity located in Baltimore, MD.

  • Establish procedure to address inconsistencies and track resolutions.

  • Develop data dictionaries for each database.

  • Enhance data management and document data sharing practices.

  • Apply database management concepts, principles, and methods, including data management systems, storage capacity management, backup and recovery, data storage media and other tools used for data management.

  • Work with the data manager to provide data auditing services to studies that are active and ongoing as required to ensure that the quality of the data meets the study goals and quality standards.

  • Provide final data sets for each project.

  • Perform statistical analysis for each project.

  • Construct systematic processes for data entry and quality assurance from project onset through analysis.

  • Work with staff to gather and analyze information from users, primarily principal investigators (PIs), needed for the development or modification of CRFs and accompanying interface relating to data collection, storage, and access.

  • Perform quality checks to ensure consistency, integrity, and robustness of data.

  • Ensure that appropriate variables are captured in the constructed databases.

  • Format databases to allow merging of spreadsheets for statistical analyses and to optimize planned analyses.

  • Apply statistical techniques to produce meaningful tables and graphs using appropriate software.

  • Complete data analyses and draft manuscript from study results.

  • Create systematic documentation on reporting (completeness, changes, or errors).

  • Provide draft results and output for statistician review.

  • Follow established policies and procedures for the quality assurance of all study collection interfaces, storage, and access.

  • Develop and maintain data management and quality assurance/quality control procedures that improve the transparency, consistency, accuracy, and comparability of data which supports the integrity of research.

  • Develop or implement computer programs to produce statistically appropriate tabulations and analyses.

  • Document methods and results sufficiently to ensure reproducibility by other researchers.

  • Maintain tracking spreadsheet of tasks completed for each project and time spent conducting each task.

  • Provide support for all data sharing related activities; create and maintain data access and data submission tracking systems and reports to be presented to senior program leadership.

  • Meet with data customers inside and outside the UDP to assess dataset requirements.

  • Formulate appropriate data auditing plan and strategy to provide services to studies that are active and ongoing as required to ensure that the quality of the data meets the study goals and quality standards.

  • Prepare databases and reports for staff; perform various tracking and analysis of branch data to include spreadsheet preparation and interpretation.

  • Design, develop and maintain databases, Listservs, spreadsheets, PowerPoint presentations and other computer applications.

What You Will Need:

  • Bachelor’s Degree

  • A minimum of ONE (1) year of experience in Biology, Information Technology, or related discipline.    

  • Experience in Database management

  • Previous experience and knowledge with Algorithm development and/or Machine Learning

  • Knowledge of Statistical Modeling

  • Experience with Data cleaning

  • Proficient with JavaScript, RStudio, Python, Matplotlib, and/or MATLAB


What Would Be Nice To Have:

  • Previous experience with the National Institute of Health (NIH)

  • Preferred Certified Information Security Manager (CISM)
