OnsiteCollins Aerospace is seeking a Principal Engineer, disciplined in Systems Engineering, for our M145 Global Missionization Systems team located in Cedar Rapids, IA. This organization is responsible for leading and supporting system development and integration for military and commercial derivative avionics products.
As an engineer on our team, you will be involved in the design, development, integration, verification and validation of our avionics system and architecture.
This role will primarily be involved in bidding, planning, and leading the systems team activities for different programs currently being executed and other pursuits. Additionally, the role will be involved in the design, development, and planning of systems activities during the program pursuit phase.
Primary Responsibilities:
Provide technical leadership to the systems team responsible for the design, development, and verification of avionics systems
Specify requirements, system implementation, test case development, verification test execution, and certification.
Conduct multidisciplinary research and collaborate with software and hardware architects in the planning, design, development, of highly integrated avionics systems
Lead or participate in proposals and bidding exercises
Reporting System team performance, including areas of Earned Value Management (EVM), Cost Account Management (CAM), Risk Management
Ensure the development and management of technical risks and develop and execute mitigation plans
Establish trusted and influential relationships with customers and suppliers
Monitor cost and schedule and report project status to program management and engineering leadership
Basic Qualifications:
Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 12 years of relevant experience.
U.S. Person (U.S. citizen, permanent resident, refugee or asylee) or eligible to obtain necessary export authorizations required.

Experience with the Pro Line Fusion architecture
Experience with civil-certified programs
Ability to communicate with stakeholders and leadership in a constructive way
Leadership experience in the agile framework such as Scrum Master, Product Owner, etc.
Ability to travel 10% of the time.
Preferred Qualifications:
Knowledge of DO178B/C, DO-254, ARP4754A, and DO-297 certification processes.
Experience with test tools such as TNT, TLDB, ACS, and VISTA.
Experience with configuration management tools such as DOORS/JAMA, JIRA/Confluence.
