Engineering Intern – BESS/HV/SCADA Engineering

Who We Are Looking For

The Engineering Intern will be part of Clearway’s BESS, High Voltage & SCADA Engineering Teams and will report to the Director of Controls & SCADA Engineering. These teams manage the development and sustaining operations for Clearway’s Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), High Voltage Substation Equipment, and Supervisory Controls & Data Acquisition Systems. This position is part of the 10-week Summer Internship Program at Clearway Energy Group beginning in June 2025.  

We are looking for current juniors pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent. 

Throughout this summer internship program, you’ll get exposure to real projects and challenges while gaining first-hand professional experience. At Clearway, you’ll gain access to an innovative and fast-paced work environment. You’ll also participate in networking and learning events with your fellow intern cohort.

What You'll Be Doing

BESS/HV/SCADA Engineering 

• Work under the direction of Senior Engineers helping the teams reach their goals 
• Prepare design documentation and specifications for new plant builds 
• Trend and analyze field data to determine performance and areas for improvement 
• Pull data related to high voltage faults for detailed analytics and root cause analysis 
• Assist the team with troubleshooting telemetry and other operational issues 
• Work with simulation models to help craft plant control algorithms

• Coursework in battery systems, power systems, networking, and/or control systems 
• Proficiency in technical report writing and data analysis 
• Successful candidates should be strong users of Microsoft Excel and/or other analytic and modeling tools.

The pay rate for the successful candidate will depend on geographic location, skills, relevant and demonstrated experience, education, training and certifications, and other factors permitted by law. This role is not eligible to earn an annual cash bonus, subject to personal and company performance goals.
