Currently seeking a US-based Installation Support Technician with a strong background in mechanical and electrical knowledge paired with troubleshooting skills who will join a North American Service Team based out of Hamilton, ON, Canada.  The Technician will have an industrial-related background with strong communication and customer service skills, capable of delivering and maintaining high customer satisfaction. 

 

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Perform onsite mechanical installation including, but not limited to, system layout, machine assembly, alignment, and leveling and directing onsite rigging teams
  • Complete electrical installation including reading electrical schematics, directing onsite electricians, routing and installing power and control wiring, and sensor calibration
  • Test and troubleshoot installed hardware and wiring
  • Deliver machine commissioning, preventative maintenance, and training as needed
  • Commitment to travel domestically and internationally, not exceeding 75%, as business levels dictate
  • Effectively communicate all matters regarding the installation and installation functions
  • initiate, recommend, and implement continuous improvement strategies and initiatives to contribute to the profitability of the company and ongoing business operations
  • Perform general duties as assigned and assist in other areas as workload requires

 

REQUIRED SKILLS

  • High School education or equivalent experience with electrical training
  • Minimum 2+ years of experience in a production environment
  • Ability to read and understand electrical drawings, schematics and specifications
  • Great customer-facing and interpersonal communication skills
  • Commitment to travel 75% of the year throughout North America (U.S., Canada, Mexico)
  • Current and valid US driver's license and passport, with a clean driving record and reliable transportation

 

PREFERRED SKILLS

  • First Aid/Safety Certification
  • Skilled Trade Certification
  • Hoisting and Rigging Certification
  • Forklift Operator Certification
  • Experience with Rigging

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and vibration, airborne particles, and machine lubricants and chemicals used in cleaning processes.  The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

The position requires frequent lifting, pushing and pulling objects that weigh up to 60 pounds.  The employee is frequently required to grip and operate hand tools with a minimum of 50 in/lbs of force.  The employee is frequently required to see fine components and possess manual dexterity to properly place and solder these components.
