About this role:

Carrier Fire & Security Products is seeking a Production Technician for its Detector Electronics fire and gas detection business in Bloomington, MN!  Det-Tronics has been providing proven flame detection, gas detection and hazard mitigation systems for high-risk processes and critical industrial operations worldwide since 1973. The company designs, manufactures and commissions certified SIL 2-capable flame and gas detection solutions. Det-Tronics products carry performance and safety certifications from globally recognized third-party testing agencies and approval bodies. 

The Production Technician is a key member of the Operations support team and uses education, experience, and the Carrier Operating System to ensure the efficient performance of production equipment. 

This position reports directly to the Manufacturing Manager, collaborating with Test Engineers, Manufacturing Engineers, and Production Team. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Help develop and execute enhanced TPM System  
  • First line of support for “Line-Down” situations  
  • Utilize troubleshooting skills to perform rework & repair of Equipment assigned.  
  • Implement and maintain ESD mitigation and protection systems and equipment   
  • Analyze first pass yield data to identify trends in tester robustness, perform RRCA, and take action to correct Equipment issues and assure ongoing high quality/yield. 
  • Perform the initial troubleshooting of failures affecting equipment, fixtures and processes within the assigned product assembly line(s).  Assure proper resources are assigned to best resolve such issues.  
  • Assist with the implementation/Installation of new fixtures and equipment.  Fill in required documentation and evaluation of new equipment and TPM plans. 
  • Actively participate in production improvement activities and proactively seek and suggest improvement opportunities.   
  • Participate in the Carrier Excellence Lean program.      
  • Perform other duties as assigned. 

Required Qualifications: 

  • Associates degree in electrical, mechanical
  • 2+ years’ experience working in a Manufacturing production industrial setting.   

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proven problem solving skills and experience in using continuous improvement tools to benefit a lean manufacturing environment. 
  • Excellent written and verbal skills 
  • Demonstrated open attitude for continuous improvement.  
  • Demonstrated high mechanical aptitude with abilities in solving complex problems
  • Proven ability to perform under stress and meet guidelines 
  • Must be able to perform essential job functions safely and work within established company guidelines for EH&S and Ethics.
