The Position

The Senior Manager of Security plays a critical role in overseeing security programs across multiple campuses, ensuring alignment with corporate objectives. This includes a comprehensive approach to various security aspects such as crisis management, emergency response, investigations, physical security, personnel security, training, and contingency planning.

Leveraging extensive expertise, the manager independently determines methods and procedures for new assignments, influencing successful program implementation by engaging with stakeholders and senior leadership. They also evaluate, initiate, and execute policies to ensure compliance with security requirements and corporate standards, while overseeing department activities and projects.

Moreover, the manager supervises security contractor operations, providing strategic feedback and contributing to employment decisions. Responsible for budget management, staff development, and consistent policy application, the manager is pivotal in analyzing security processes and mitigating escalations.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborates cross-functionally with various functions and departments to support the integration and high performance of robust security programs and policies.

  • Leads efforts to identify, develop, implement and sustain security and emergency response plans.

  • Manages various security programs to ensure compliance with applicable regulatory and company requirements, utilizing industry best practices to identify and manage risk.

  • Manages security vendors and ensures contract staff are implementing and adhering to security protocols.

  • Facilitates across multiple business functions and/or business units; in order to help management, establish objectives and plan security programs to achieve objectives.

  • Investigates all security and facility emergency response issues.   Supports post-incident analysis to determine mitigation strategies to reduce future incident frequency and impact.

  • Provides leadership for achievement of security goals including data collection and analysis, action plan development, forecasting, communication and organizational influence as needed to set and achieve goals.

  • Acts as the subject matter expert for security change management implementation needs [e.g. new buildings, remodels, new equipment, capital projects, etc.].

  • Facilitates implementation of continuous improvement and compliance assurance programs to ensure the site complies with applicable security requirements and is “inspection ready” at all times.

  • Leads government and company compliance interactions relative to security requirements, including reporting, notification, facilitating inspections, and ensuring closure of corrective actions.      

  • Manages staff; provides staff with coaching, training and opportunities to develop skills, and gives ongoing, constructive and timely feedback on performance and progress toward goals and expectations

Formal Training/Education

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited 4-year college or university 

  • Completion of a recognized security certification is a plus. Examples include but are not limited to: Certified Protection Professional (CPP), Physical Security Professional (PSP), Professional Certified Investigator (PCI).

           

Experience

  • 10 years of progressive responsibility in security, military, and/or law enforcement field

  • 3 years of management experience that includes direct responsibility of people

  • Experience working with local and national enforcement agencies 

  • Demonstrated proficiency in developing and managing physical security requirements and programs across a variety of site types      

  • Demonstrated proficiency in navigating emergency management and response    

  • Relevant experience with increasing responsibility in a private sector multi-national corporate security organization     

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of California is $132,100 - $245,300.  Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law.  A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance.  This pos
