Overview:
Vice President, Executive Security Management, is a member of M&T Bank’s Corporate Security leadership team.
Leads the Executive and Event Protection teams and directs the development, implementation and maintenance of the Executive and Event Protection program, which includes but is not limited to, operational safety and physical security aspects of Executive Protection, site and advanced security assessments, training and serving as liaison with law enforcement, internal lines of business and executive leadership. Manages the development of the corporate event security program. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in corporate executive protection and event security program development, security management, exceptional leadership skills, and a deep understanding of risk assessment and mitigation strategies.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Assist Chief Security Officer in promoting the overall mission of the Executive and Event Protection program including supporting related initiatives
- Manage the development, implementation and maintenance of the Bank’s Executive Protection Program and associated policies and standards
- Develop process for conducting threat assessments and security evaluations for Bank leadership
- Develop a strategic plan for operational security involvement in corporate sponsored events
- Plan and oversee security measures for corporate events, including conferences, meetings, and social gatherings
- Manage transportation logistics and secure travel planning for Bank executives
- Provide regular updates and reports to senior management on security operations
- Coordinate transportation logistics and secure travel arrangements for executives
- Manage a team of security professionals, ensuring training is provided regarding best practices
- Coordinate and plan budgetary needs as needed to support area activities
- Regularly assess potential security threats and vulnerabilities within the organization
- Maintain excellent rapport and open lines of communication regarding executives’ needs, requests for support, service issues, and deliverables
- Liaise with internal departments and external partners to ensure a unified approach to security

- Remain current on threat and intelligence information relevant to performance of duties and the safety of the executive
- Work closely with law enforcement and emergency services to ensure a coordinated response to security incidents
- Act as an intermediary between events staff and external security personnel to ensure cohesive corporate event coverage and brand protection in all regions
- Work in a confidential and discrete manner with colleagues and external authorities
- Design, implement, maintain and enhance internal controls to mitigate risk on an ongoing basis
- Travel within the Bank footprint to carry out job duties as necessary
- Exercise usual authority of a manager concerning staffing, performance appraisals, promotions, salary recommendations, performance management and terminations
- Understand and adhere to the Bank’s risk and regulatory standards, policies and controls in accordance with the Bank’s Risk Appetite
- Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable

Education and Experience Required:
Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 4 years’ professional experience, or in lieu of a degree, a combined minimum of 8 years’ higher education and professional experience, including a minimum of 4 years’ professional experience
Minimum of 2 years’ work leadership and/or supervisory experience
Education and Experience Preferred:
- Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 10 years’ professional experience in corporate security, law enforcement and/or military
- 3 years of work leadership and/or supervisory experience
- Prior experience in developing/leading an executive protection and/or an event security program within a corporate environment is necessary
- Demonstrated knowledge of technical security countermeasure implementation
- High degree of integrity and demonstrated experience in maintaining confidentiality
