Job Description

PRIMARY OBJECTIVE OF POSITION:

Coordinates materials availability, operations labor resources, documentation to create production plans that are achievable and meet project, order and customer requirements. Ensures MRP schedules are accurate and current. Ensures alignment of MRP with other system modules. Monitors production execution throughout the manufacturing cycle to meet requirements.

MAJOR AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:

1. Reviews, verifies and adjusts MRP level production schedules generated by project and order schedules to accommodate labor capacity, and the availability/lead time of materials, space and documentation while maximizing achievement of customer/project/order schedule requirements.

2. Coordinates and schedules “walk-in” work requests to minimize disruption to scheduled work while meeting priorities of all demand types.

3. Monitors parts availability and expedites when necessary to meet production schedules.

4. Ensures MRP information in SAP is maintained, including but not limited to the following. 

  • Scheduled dates are correct and current
  • BOM reflects latest changes. 
  • Manual dates usage reflects planning policy.

5. Monitors and fully utilizes labor capacity

  • Notifies work group supervisor in advance when future demand does not align with capacity and schedules cannot be adapted to accommodate the difference.
  • Assists in balancing labor demand among different groups when needed.  
  • Review labor demand, labor capacity, and headcount with Production Supervisors at least weekly
  • Helps drive direct labor productivity with efficient, effective schedule
  • Work with Project Engineers to understand Network Activity requirements, break them down into trackable and assignable buckets, and schedule them like production work orders
  • Review project work requirements (type of work, sequence of work, number of hours, etc) with Project Engineers and Production Supervisors and create plan that maximizes the project lead time and labor efficiency
  • Work with Production Supervisors to make sure each tech is fully utilized
  • Maintain two week fixed schedule, six week detailed plan, and 18 month rolling project plan
  • Coordinate with Manufacturing Engineers to make adjustments to routing times as necessary

6. Develops and recommends project/order schedule changes when current plan cannot be met; work with Production Supervisors and Techs to update Work Order dates and ensure work is completed

7. Maintain Floor Space and Headcount Plan file

8. Purchase parts as assigned

9. Leads corrective action when schedules cannot be executed as planned.  

10. Develops and implements engineering change notification plan as assigned by Master Data/EOC controller, including but not limited to:

  • Coordinate MRP order and BOM changes
  • Schedules and coordinates rework
  • Validate implementation is complete.

11. Monitors and reports status or schedule change to internal customers

12. Develop and maintain a working knowledge of MTS products, manufacturing methods and scheduling systems

13. Adjust process as necessary to align with 80/20 implementation

Qualifications

2 yr. degree in business or technical field and 6 yrs. experience working with a computer-based ERP/MRP system.

OR

10 yrs. experience working with a computer-based ERP/MRP system.

Plus: 20 hours applicable coursework related to operations management or operations planning (i.e. APICS)
