About the role

Position Summary

The Senior Director of Production Services provides senior leadership for the planning, execution, and continuous improvement of production services supporting live athletic events, game presentations, and special initiatives for University of South Florida Athletics. This position oversees operational execution, content readiness, staffing, and production workflows to ensure high-quality, engaging, and consistent live event experiences. The role works in close partnership with the Associate Vice President, Broadcast and Live Event Productions to maintain institutional standards, operational reliability, and fan engagement excellence.

Key Responsibilities

Event Production & Operations

  • Lead and oversee production services for live athletic events, including game presentations, special events, and departmental initiatives.
  • Ensure readiness and coordination of production systems, audiovisual equipment, and venue infrastructure in collaboration with technical staff and facilities teams.
  • Translate run-of-show documents into executable event-day production plans, ensuring alignment of timing, sequencing, and technical readiness.
  • Support production planning, staffing strategies, and execution models for events of varying scale and complexity.

Content Coordination & Creative Development

  • Coordinate with internal departments, external partners, and creative teams to ensure video, graphics, sponsored content, and interactive elements are prepared and delivered on schedule.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for production service needs, advising on content requirements and delivery timelines.
  • Collaborate with communications and marketing teams to align video and content strategies with brand and fan engagement goals.
  • Participate in creative development and brainstorming to generate innovative fan engagement concepts, theme nights, and storytelling features.

Staffing & Talent Development

  • Lead and manage student employees, interns, and part-time staff, including hiring, training, scheduling, and performance development.
  • Establish staffing models and workflows to support both event-day and non-event-day production needs.
  • Foster a collaborative, professional, and performance-driven team culture.

Collaboration & Resource Management

  • Coordinate with the Broadcast department to share production resources and operational information while maintaining clear role boundaries.
  • Establish and maintain production workflows, checklists, and operational best practices to ensure consistent execution.
  • Assist with planning and oversight of production services budgets, equipment needs, and resource allocation.
  • Support procurement, equipment documentation, and inventory management.

Compliance, Safety & Continuous Improvement

  • Ensure production operations comply with campus and departmental policies, procedures, and safety guidelines.
  • Maintain awareness of emerging technologies, tools, and best practices in live event production and fan engagement.
  • Identify opportunities for operational improvement and enhanced audience experience.
 

Other Duties

  • Perform other related duties and projects as assigned.
 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, broadcasting, sports management, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and professional experience.
  • Minimum of five years of experience in live event production, game presentation, or production services.
  • Demonstrated experience leading live productions across multiple events.
  • Strong organizational, project management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven ability to lead, train, and mentor student employees and part-time staff.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and nontraditional schedules.
  • Degree Equivalency Clause: Four years of direct experience for a bachelor’s degree.
